"Another record" is the same song with different language. Greedy Walter White.
ОтветитьI watched this movie in 99 at 4 years old and I remember this scene lol
Ответить"The same person who said you had class" I will likely die still wondering who it is that did it.
ОтветитьI won't be able to digest these for months...how can one dump an angel !!!
ОтветитьGuy gives me Jim Halpert vibes
ОтветитьNot so!!!
Always !!!!
Why else had a ridiculous crush on Guy in this movie? 😍
ОтветитьI think I would actually murder someone for Jimmy’s hairline
ОтветитьWhy do they listen to jimmy like he's the boss?
ОтветитьOne thing I like about this movie is how each character resembles the personality of a Beatle. Their positions on each instrument are switched but Jimmy is Lennon, Guy is McCartney, Lenny is Ringo and T.B. Player is George. Very clever whether it was intended that way or not.
ОтветитьAbsolutely amazing acting, such a realistic and for a lot of people relatable scene
ОтветитьI had to do a double-take here when I realised she wasn't Megan from Mad Men.
ОтветитьI swear guy look like he's about to punch Jimmy and I would not blame him
ОтветитьThis made me want to cry so hard.
ОтветитьGood educational video for women. Jimmy is, at best, a borderline sociopath. We're supposed to feel sympathy for Faye, but all I can muster is a vague contempt for her sticking with a guy who treated her like that. Too often we read about her type in the news posthumously.
ОтветитьSplendido film
ОтветитьWhat a selfish girl!
ОтветитьGood for Faye for speaking her mind. And Jimmy is a rabid assh0le
Ответить“Which one of you butts said we were engaged anyway?”
“The same person who said you had class, Jimmy.”
Nobody.
"The same person that said you had class, Jimmy" I mean NOBODY.
ОтветитьShame on you Jimmy. You had an amazing girlfriend and you just mistreated her. Seriously, when your girlfriend is that sweet and that beautiful, how can one not appreciate her
ОтветитьJimmy flipped out at the "engaged" caption on the screen because he knew he was being seen on a national level and wanted to keep his options open to the flood of women coming his way. Jimmy didn't want to tie himself down to one woman at that time.
Even the hotel concierge knew that the young squire Guy was a better fit for Faye.
Good on her!!!!
ОтветитьI LOVE HERRR SLAY GIRL
ОтветитьEven though she wasn't in the band, Faye was essential to the group! Her enthusiasm for their success and her love for Jimmy was the catalyst in the group's success!
Her leaving Jimmy was really the nail in the coffin for "The Wonders".
Tom Hanks is simply great in this movie!
When I feel down, I pull out my DVD copy of "That Thing You Do!" and it takes me back to my youth.
The 1960s!
I read about how Michael Landon had a feud with Victor French on the set of “Little House on the Prairie” because French wanted to move on since there was no written contract for him to stay. So Landon cut not only him but the entire Edwards family out of the show in Season 4 and the show was never the same after that. One of the actresses from the show (Charlotte Stewart) said “They were all treated as collateral damage, especially Radames Pera.” I thought of this movie and scene.
ОтветитьJIMMY ~ "Take those stupid sunglasses off!"
ОтветитьDo people really have speeches prepped for breakups?
ОтветитьA GREAT ACTRESS: Liv Tyler
ОтветитьYou can see how this led into the next scene, when Mr. White shut down Jimmy in the recording studio and ordered him to record exactly what the label wanted. Before this, he maybe saw Jimmy as a young kid in a hurry, and who still had to learn the ropes. After this, there was zero respect for him as a human being.
ОтветитьGuy's comeback at the end was so perfect. Knocks Jimmy's self-image right off his high horse.
ОтветитьLiz never looked better
ОтветитьI never liked Jimmy,he was self centered and so egotistical. Everything revolved around him. In spite of it,I absolutely loved this film. Took me back to when I was 10 years old and I was just falling in love with music. The early 60’s were a great time to be growing up.
ОтветитьBrilliant movie. A classic. Only problem was the end when it showed that Jimmy went on to a successful career. Would've preferred him to disappear into obscurity.
ОтветитьIt's easy to know why he didn't dump her. She's Liv - possibly the most beautiful actress in Hollywood.
ОтветитьLiv Tyler was perfect in this role. Everyone here is well cast, but I feel like she especially captured the spirit of who Faye should be.
ОтветитьPuke. Faye is the most annoying thing in this movie. “You stay away from me.” Like he’s even looked at her twice in the entire movie. 🤣 Terrible actress, lame character on top of it.
ОтветитьThis is why I won't deal with him. He's not consistent. He a double talker. You'll receive nothing.
ОтветитьGuy couldn’t read a room and that’s what made him the best character.
Ответитьending of movie was so corny
ОтветитьShe just had a Captain and Tenille moment.
ОтветитьOf course, Guy and Faye were made for each other from the get-go. They were the perfect couple
ОтветитьHer TALENT supersedes HER beauty... Which is a RARITY in the industry she must endure. I hold her in the regard that I hold Michelle Pfeiffer and Natalie Portman!!! Gifted ARTISTS that surpassed society's antiquated mentality.
ОтветитьWhen egomaniac Jimmy tells Guy, "Tale those stupid sunglasses off", Guy slowly pulls then down from his eyes with a look of total disgust as if to say, "OK, but that's the last time you will ever tell me what to do, jackass."
Faye later tells Guy, "You know, none of this would have happended if you hadn't joined the band". She was absolutely right, without Guy, Jimmy would have still been in Erie performing his hit ballad, "Alone in My Principles" at Mercyhurst College talent shows.
1. Guy sped up "That Thing" and transformed it from a sleepy sappy ballad into a banging hit rocker;
2. Comes up with "Wonderful" ("That's it, Guy Patterson--The Wonders!"), which eventually becomes the name of the band after Mr. White kills off "The Oneeders", other one of Jimmy's lame-o ideas;
3. Suggests they make a "record record record" with his Uncle Bob, leading to Phil Horace having a demo to send to Mr. White at Play Tone Records, leading White to fly into Pittsburgh to check out the Wonders;
4. Is the "Smart One" who impresses Mr. White enough to sign the band to Play Tone after meeting Guy and deciding that there was at least one man in the band with maturity and intelligence that he could work with;
5. Becomes the most visibly recognizable member of the band as "Shades"; Jimmy's ego couldn't tolerate that somene other than himself was famous too and thus his petulant 'Take off those stupid sun glasses";
6. Was at least, if not more, talented than Jimmy, considering how he impressed Del Paxton with his polite worshipful demeanor at the Blue Spot and then with his improv jazz chops (which no doubt sounded comfortably familiar to Del, since Guy learned how to drum playing along to Del's records), as well as impressing Mr. White with his intelligence, professionalism, and his playing chops, resulting in White inviting Guy to hang around in the studio and to keep drumming as a session man for Play Tone. Total third-party validation for Guy and the beginning of his real career as a professional musician.
7. And he got the girl!
The same person who said you had class Jimmy.... savage!
Ответитьthis movie is incredible and one of my all time favorites. Steve Zahn's expression after everything goes down when they are walking out is priceless. He knows that this could end the band forever.
ОтветитьFunny how you can be a 6' 2", 200 lbs, handsome, 20-something male(with talent to boot) and still have the heart of a tyrant and the mind of a 7 year old.
ОтветитьImagine being in a (windowless) room with a guy wearing sunglasses being being a bigger douche than he is
