Weird to see that in my "best anorexia era" I was fitting the formula perfectly... apart that my heart wasn't beating enought with pacemaker risk, and I didn't have any period anymore. Happy to hear through that many cases recovered and realized how to feel good WITHOUT starving, it gaves me faith and positive examples!

Physicians/Physical trainers that Qualified in great background information, plus homeschooling/Regular schooling including too.

It wasn't just extreme dieting...looks like all these idols had surgeries. This is incredibly disordered. Eat proper calories for your bodyweight, sensibly exercise, and never go under the knife unless it is life or death.

I used to be the biggest out of all my siblings and it made me depressed so I wouldn't eat or eat less then 500 calories a day for days to weeks. I did end up losing about 80lbs but was still hot happy and wanted to lose more.i did have less energy but it wasn't extreme. Then I gained all the wait plus more back when I went to college and after I dropped out I became stressed that I gained it all back so I went back to what I did before and it took a couple years but I lost a little over 100lbs and was very malnourished and just went to work then sleep but I still wasn't happy and wanted to loose about 10 more pounds which would be considered the lower number of the "normal mbi weight"of someone my height. Around this time I figured barely eating wasn't helping and stated to exercise which helped but wasn't getting the body I wanted so I had to put more protein in what I ate and slowly I started to gain muscle but everytime my legs got bigger I had to stop eating. I didn't want to go over a certain size cause I thought I would just keep going until I was at my highest weight again. But now I do struggle some times but if I really want to eat or binge eat I don't really care if I gain a little weight I'm more confident now that I'm what works for me in a healthy way to get to a decent weight for myself and thank God I didn't really get any heath problems from it other then digestive issues

Ladies- losing too much weight can royally eff up your hormonal balance. It goes far beyond losing one's menstrual cycle. Your hair can thin and fall out, you can experience intense bone and joint pain, memory loss, depression, and more. Additionally, losing too much weight breaks down the collagen in your skin- including your face. You may be able to pull it off in your early-mid 20's- but once you start hitting the later 20s and beyond that lack of collagen will age you significantly.

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but the whole of K-Pop culture is nothing but glorification of anorexia nervosa and utterly irresponsible. I now see underage clients in Germany who seriously believe that this is normal because it is so glorified and idealized there. This is absolutely irresponsible as a person and as a society, especially when you know that anorexia nervosa is the mental illness that kills the most people. 10% die from it. Being severely underweight (and nothing else is the whole thing) as a society to romanticize, idealize and celebrate is really crazy, dangerous and pathological.

There should be so much more scientifically valid education about a balanced diet, health, body, weight and exercise from an early age, everywhere and mandatory. Of course, anorexia nervosa does not arise from that alone. Nonetheless, all of this crap contributes to body dysmorphia and is a strong contributor to developing an eating disorder in general. Therefore, there needs to be so much more thought about what is healthy and how to manage one's body and behavior in a healthy way in order to get there at least reduce some of the risk factors. The whole fat shaming and the toxic mentality that comes from celebrities worldwide or parts of Asian society is inhuman and dangerous.

I fitted the Korean idol weight calculation when i was sick in hospital with anorexia so that minus 120 thing is crazy. I’m 173cm and weighed 49-52kg during my eating disorder teen and uni days, when I look back at photos I was a walking skeleton. I could never imagine going back to that and seeing as “ideal”. That was BMI of 16-17, and obviously no periods, so dangerous expectations

sadly its also a cycle, from the fans to the angency to the image that people plant on them. sk fans put such a high standard on idols to look a certain way and make them have unrealistic standards which leads to fans also doing the same thing. if things don't change they won't make anything any better

I like kpop a lot, but I can say that after a while you start to see that everything in it is so synchronized, laminated and edited that at some point it becomes saturated.
All this "Manufactured perfection" is so exhausting. Nothing seems spontaneous (even for going to airports, clothes are pre-selected). They can't have boyfriends, they can't drink, they can't eat, they can't get fat... They can't be real.
This model of "healthy" from Korea (and Asia in general) is extremely toxic, who consumes it ends up getting sick in the process.

Fasting longer than 5 days in a row will stop burning fat as the metabolism readjust to drop in calories. Fasting longer than 3 days in a row increases the risk of death by stroke or heart attack when breaking a fast too hard by eating too many carbs suddenly in what is called the overfeeding syndrome. To safely lose weight fasting one has to maintain proper electrolyte levels PLUS use Time Restricted Eating (intermittent fasting)/ TRE. TRE means limiting number of calories per day and eating only when between few hours per day. TRE forces the metabolism into fat/ketone/lipid burning via Ketosis instead of burning carbohydrates/proteins via glycosis. Certain diabetic medications can be use to enhance this effort but they come with health risk so it is not recommended unless there is a health care provider monitoring the treatment. Exercise during dieting will prevent or lessen muscle mass loss during the treatment but it won't have a big impact on weight loss. Dieting depends on eating behavior which is impacted by the gut micobiome and hormone levels. Resetting or damage to the gut microbiome can have a big impact on extra weight gain or keeping the weight off. Probiotic or preprobiotic fermented foods like kimchi can be used to reset the gut microbiome. Surgery to alter the digestive tract without altering lifestyle habits like diet only have a temporary effect for weight loss that last about a year or so. Surgery that use fecal implants to alter the gut microbiome has promising results for weight loss. Drugs that affect cortisol and insulin hormone levels can impact weight gain or loss. TRE dieting /fasting can be monitored and managed using a Ketone meter to prevent death by ketoacidosis. Key electrolyte levels in the water consumed during fasting that must be manage are Potassium Magnesium Calcium and Sodium. A medical providers should assist with any serious weight loss treatment. HTH

Something else not mentioned about the female idols - most of them won't even have periods they are that malnourished and underweight. This is extremely dangerous and can lead to osteoporosis as well as many other health conditions. But apparently looking like skeletons is worth it ?

I may b going out on limb here but I can’t help but see a correlation between how idols starved thin bodies are reminiscent of nearly prepubescent bodies (small hips, small chest, loss of period, weakened strength) and the huge market for “Lolita” and “school girl” mangas and anime and other related medias

What's always amazed me about idols. Is that for all the dancing they do they never have any muscle tone. Singers in North America, who put on similar-type concerts. Always develop muscular legs from all the dancing, and their arms are usually at least toned. Singing and dancing Burns a lot of calories so the artist end up very fit especially after a concert tour. Kpop idols look skinny, not athletic or active. As Kpop becomes more popular in other countries I wonder if the standards will change.

How is working out 4h a day healthy? I feel like the message behind these examples is that all of the idols lost their weight really unhealthily and then somehow maintained that low weight in a “healthy” way. It just doesn’t compute to me that they are all healthy now 🤔

This industry and the mentality of plastic surgery in Korea is so bad. They so focused on appearance instead of having a different view on beauty and look. This increase so much depression, what do you think so many artist have mental issues and mental health is so taboo in Korea. I hope someday that people will stand up for themselves and say enough is enough with this.
