Foundational is the Ph part of the PhD. Epistemology, Philosophy of Science (e.g. Kuhn v. Popper), Comparative Research Methods, etc. Get grounded in this stuff before proceeding. Wisdom is knowing that knowledge is fleeting.

Andy, ive recently passed my Viva. And it seemed to me the correction part way more difficult than any other phase, especially that every draft i use to send to my supervisor the answer is " 👌 continue." Please do a video for this phase on how to deal with correction (expand, narrow, change, insist). Much appreciated

How do you address the copyright issue of "whatever you put into google, becomes theirs". (or any "free" digital platform eg all your photos on insta and FB become property of META)
Your PhD effort adds to the LLM knowledge data set, taking your hard work and making it theirs - no credit, no thanks and no compensation... just a smarter google, end user looses.

Using pure Gemini 2.5 pro in Google AI studio with no web grounding is a thousand times better than anything else...
Deep research and Gemini advanced are poor products

Before, when I used to read articles, they were always long and repetitive balalalalalala😂. Now, thanks to AI, I can get a summary in seconds , and thanks Andy for amazing videos

Can you, please, make a video on what specific skills will academics have to focus on in order to be succesful in the future and not be replaced by AI

I’m no longer working in academia, but having these AI tools at my disposal makes research really fun. I work at the intersection of Evidence-Based Health Education and Digital Learning for women 50plus and until now, I simply didn’t find the time to explore the available literature. Using Gemini Deep Research has helped me make significant progress. However, I almost lost my mind (well, kind of) trying to figure out how to save a Google Doc as a Word file while preserving footnotes. One AI tool claimed it was possible, but your video confirmed that it’s not, and that I have to do it manually.

Hey, Andy. Can you please make a video about alternatives to academia, considering the problems with academia?

I absolutely agree with Andy and his views on the future of academia. AI will definitely positively change the way by making research efficient and convenient

I think you're absolutely right in saying that these tools are amazing, and I think anyone who fails to use them to some degree at last will run into problems soon in his or her career. But I also think that they tend to get overestimated. If everybody uses these tools to write up papers and grant proposals, their effectiveness will soon wear off.

Put yourself in the shoes of the people making grant decisions or peer reviewing and reading hundreds of these papers every month or week. Very soon they'll feel like you've read one, you've read them all. Everywhere the same "compelling arguments", phrases clearly coming from an AI, all sounding similar, same linguistic polish, similar conclusions, referencing similar trends, policies, etc.

It'll work well in the beginning, but in a year or two I wouldn't put my hopes up too much. What will stand out then are well written, unique arguments, clearly coming from a human being who knows what he/she is talking about. The typical AI phrases will be like triggers to these decision makers: "Ok, AI BS incoming, skip the next 34 pages, anything else? No -> next please." At least, that's what I would do if I were in their shoes. And what else could you do? The grant money they can distribute won't increase.

I am trying to rewrite my PhD thesis into a book. Manus AI has been so helpful. Of course it was your recommendation!

I wanted to ask which tool do you find the most useful in writing/rewriting? Especially when one already has the first draft and needs to reformat/rewrite for a different purpose.
