Watch the video of the Halloween celebration 2022 in Japan where there were lots of police on the streets with bullhorns to direct people. The Korean politicians and police should watch the video so that what happened in Itaewon will never happen again. I doubt that there will be much of a 2023 Halloween celebration.

Very tragic event. News please stop misinforming people. This was a crowd crush not a stampede, there was literally nowhere for people to run. These poor folks suffered under the pressure of other people’s bodies, quite possibly while even standing up.

Embarrassing, tragic, unbelievable, evil, oblivious, and unintelligent is how I feel about the entire event that occurred. Humans cannot be doing these things! This week and last week has been nothing but sad, wake up everyone, be grateful of what you got before you forget!

We are so sorry for everyone's loss. Likely mayor or police chief will get fired for this mess and form new law regarding any gathering events. This accident will not be forgotten. Everyone is stunned that it happened in S Korea.

In modern day South Korea, people don't yield to other people. For example in a bus stop, people will run to the bus at the same time. You see it in the subway also, people rushing to get in first. This is why a stampede like this can happen. Everyone trying to get to through that narrow alley at the same time. Korea may be economically developed, but culturally it is barbaric.

That's why never ever celebrate this evil festival. RIP to all who lost lives

The " Police " in Korea are the equivalent to an 80 year old lady trying to run around with a cane screaming at people with no real authority or confidence in their policing standards . This is clearly the fault of the police and they need to be held personally responsible . They need to payout every family that had a loss or injury a sizable check and then invest billions into restructuring their sad excuse for police standards and make sure this kind of thing can never happen again . Nice job Korea .

This is not the first time Korea has had shoulder to shoulder crowds. 2002 worldcup, protest marches, and city hall plaza civilian gatherings are super crowded affairs. This was different on a night and location with mischievous intents and undiscerning excitement. Korean Government never had an issue with disorderly crowds crushing each other. Their subways at peak hours are crushing but nobody dies from it. This is mob interest. People looking for celebs and their idols and fueling worse crowd dynamics in a narrow alleys.

to prevent being trapped like that you need to keep your arms around your body to keep as much space between you and others so you can breathe, and if you do fall, go into a fetal position.

if you do end up in that position, go with the wave of the crowd until you can leave.

if you arrive and people are getting so crowded that their shoulders are touching someone else or if all 4 sides (shoulders, chest, and back), leave.

if you're in a place where you're shoulder to shoulder, leave.

if you're in the back of a large crowd, do not push forward and if you're in the front do anything to keep from falling down.

pull others up if they fall and when you're stuck, scream for help until someone can pull you out.

This lazy journalism calling these event "STAMPEDES" needs to stop. No one was stampeding and running over people. It wasn't so pathetic its actually almost laughable that it gets reported this way. A stampede implies that people in the crowd were intentionally involved in trampling and 150 people...its pretty ridiculous.

The narrative is so upsetting its not a STAMPEDE!!’ And as a news network and Journalists WORDS matter~ a stampede is something tht animals do in an open space with room and there is No such thing as a slow stampede ~ a crowd surge is also where people Have room to surge and usually highly emotional ( sports events etc) which leaves the crowd responsible for the act >>>this is lack of crowd control & non violent people having a good time being together and DUE to No policing and controlling of the crowd down a very narrow street it became a CROWD CRUSH. It matters how yOu all report this because these young people did Nothing wrong and tragically lost their lives. God Bless their souls and the loved ones and all those traumatized.
