awful fashion trends of the 2010s

I like coloured skinny jeans, but only with other bigger layering pieces, like a nice sweater or smth

Can someone please explain the dislike/hate for skinny jeans? I find straight leg/flare/baggy jeans all look frumpy, the never fit the thigh/butt/waist properly no matter then brand or size and they make non skinny girls look like a box. I'm still on team skinny jeans, I'm a size 8us in pants, I have a tummy and I'm very short. Non skinny jeans just look so super bad on my body type. And I genuinely think the new style of jeans looks great on a lot of people, but not everyone.

Turns out I was not trendy in the 2010s. I had one pair of jeggings that I wore when I procrastinated too hard on laundry and one pair of studded pointy heels I wore twice and donated because they were so uncomfortable.

I find it hilarious that sweatpants and shorts missing half their fabric is what's fashionable now, but sure, "2010's was bad". Fashion is so much worse right now.

I wasnt into 2010 fashion as it was happening and this video helped me understand why - Im especially not into 80s fashion.

The 80s adapted style was huge at house shows I went to in 2014-2017 which were put on and frequented by the young indie crowd. They were obsessed with David Bowie and some of the bands would roll in with only a synthesizer. Im not a big 80s music fan so don't have the vocabulary to explain it but it was very nerdy math rock, awkward, thick rimmed glasses, skinny boys with no smiles, style.

The one item I do look back fondly on were one color skinny jeans.

I remember how the fast fashion shop New Yorker had T-shirts with different animals (owls too) that had huge eyes and those eyes were located where the breasts were. It was sooo weird to have many of my teen schoolmates wear those.

What do we think of skinny jeans?

Colored skinny jeans were a thing in 2008. I had them in every color.

Honestly the only thing missing for me in this video were the ginormous scarves with army green jackets for autumn 😭😭

This video will age poorly. Most of those trends weren't ugly, as there's nothing tacky or over-the-top about them. And you all wore and loved them only a few years back. Then, suddenly, because the fashion industry needs to make money, you all changed your entire wardrobe and started hating what you wore not that long ago. This hate of the 2010s fashion is so forced and fake. At least we didn't wear low-rise jeans with thongs sticking out as many did in 2020/21. Oh, and also the ugly trend of combining slippers with white socks, miniature (and pointless) sunglasses and purses, fanny packs, and jeans three sizes bigger - give it five years and we'll laugh at those 2020s trends.

How is involving nature in fashion cultural appropriation ? If i wear a headband covered in feathers im appropriating a culture . Wow , everyone gets offended so easily .

2010's was the first fashion era where I was old enough to actually participate in (I was like 8 in 2012, so I was not really participating yet but definitlly getting my mom to buy what I saw in some dutch faschion magazines for pre teens) so these trends feel very much like my awkward phase where my parents stopped picking out my clothes. Looking back at pictures from then, I remember feeling so mature in those clothes but now I think it looks so awkward and I wish my parents still chose my clothes back then.

Say what u want about Jeggings, I loved those things! I had a back brace and i could only wear leggings and long tee-shirts/long tank tops with cardigans to cover that medical monstrosity in middle school and I have never been more thankful that 2010s fashion was in bc it made the bullying slightly less worse at school. I miss some of those other trends tho like loita heals, skater skirts, and cool half shaved hair with a bunch of dyed colors! What a time to be alive lol

Damn those shoes were SO ugly, I have sort of forgotten about them by now. Back then pretty I've had nightmares about them. Goes for both hoof and heeled hoof. Don't forget there's not just innovators, early adopters and late adopters. There are definitely some people that ignore these sort of fashions until they go out of style. Pleased that at least I have avoided those. Would much rather weather the colour block swimsuit which I kinda wanted at the time but never got round to purchasing

I remember my friend had her hair shaved on one side and long on the other side (like Skrillex) and she accessorized it with a mustache finger tattoo.. the funny thing is, when she did that hairstyle, she had no clue who skrillex was until everyone started calling her skrillex. Lol

Sorry, but I'll choose 2010s boringness over 2000s ugliness in a heartbeat. There's nothing uglier than low rise jeans, straightened-burned hair and frosty lip with dark liner, we never should've bring it back. Skinny jeans are nothing in comparison to low-rise jeans and mini skirts

80s clothes, 50s clothes, instantly recognizable for even someone in their 20s. 2010s? No fucking way. It’s like the decade where everything just looks plain “modern”. People still do same looks 10 years later.

It’s the same with something like smartphones too. They basically look the same as 10 years ago. Which is kinda creepy. Because it’s almost like the world stopped innovating and progressing and fashion is just another facet of that

Jeggings sure looked ugly but I was chubby and couldn't find jeans that fit me bc they literally did not have plus size options back then. I had like ten of them in different colors💀💀 I would never wear them again but I am glad they existed

“Cheeky” swim bottoms. I always felt so over exposed in those. I did wear some that made my butt look better, but this was not a trend I had my whole heart in.

as someone who was a really little kid in the 2010s, i remember some of these (and do kinda hate them ahah) but the ones I don't (litas, circle skirts, bustiers) I think actually look really cool! maybe it's because I don't associate them with anything but I feel like they are certainly a look

It's probably because I grew up with these trends (2003 baby after all) but I don't see these are particularly horrendous but I suppose that makes me less of a Fashion Connoisseur

I love early 2010 fashion.
My favorite is the Justice, I love their unique shaped shirts, colors, motifs and funny and sweet slogans on them
Also the early 2010 kawaii style with pink + white polka dots, large bows, and CocoPPA phone customization
As for regular: The mustache deco, galaxy, colorful jeans, etc give me a nice feeling
