Disney is destroying one of the most incredibly beautiful places I’ve ever been on this planet. Beyond sad.

This is the worst thing that has ever happened to Eleuthera Bahamas. They are lying about preserving the ecological balance. They will destroy it. This is corporate bullshit. They could build anywhere. Why destroy this treasure that people from all over world come to witness its raw beauty. This will be a disaster. I hope Disney FAILS! This is disgusting.

This is absolutely horrible! Such a beautiful unspoiled part of the world will be completely destroyed by Disney. Very sad🤮

Disney wasn't the first cruise line to have a private island. Premier Cruise Lines had a private island, Salt Cay, long before DCL ever even existed.

33% of Disney World land is untouched or used for renewable energy sources for parks and surrounding area. Castaway Cay is only using about 10% of island and preserving rest for last 23 years. So Disney isn't wreckless when it comes to these things.

I think it’s wonderful I have to say Disney has respected the environment around them and doing what they can to keep it as clean as possible.

As a property owner on Eleuthera I most certainly don't want Disney coming to Eleuthera and ruining the absolutely best and most beautiful area of the island to make a cheap circus out of it. I bought property on Eleuthera to escape Disney and all that's associated with it from Florida. There are 700 islands in the Bahamas, surely they could go find another one that is uninhabited to destroy.

By the looks of it from the concept art, Disney is only going to put buildings at certain points of the island, much like they did on Castaway Cay. This means even if the building do drastically affect the biodiversity of the island, it will only be in localised regions. Much of castaway cay is not even accessible to passengers so I imagine they will make it like this on Lighthouse Point as well. I trust Disney with this one.

The cruise lines are turning into a theme park type mentality... Like building a check list on how many Disney theme parks to see your now building a check list to see how many Disney islands you can see lol

Yes they will harm the eco system, any large project like that would. And yes, all the thousands of visitors each week will certainly harm the eco system since they will not care about it, only care about doing what they want. The local government wouldn't care since they will happily take the money Disney will be throwing their way, assuming there will still be a cruise industry and if people will still want to cruise after the pandemic is over. This project could be placed on hold for awhile.

From the concept art, beautiful Caribbean/Polynesian buildings and bungalows, low impact infrastructure and a dock to eliminate a trench for the ships ALL under Joe Rhode's imagineering is much better then any other plan for that land and will probably make an amazing destination. I only hope that part of the project includes a connection to S.E.A. as well.

I design children's museum exhibits. When I saw the queue for Expedition Everest that Joe oversaw, I could tell he'd actually gone to Nepal. It is amazing, and museum quality. I have a feeling he will capture the essence of the Bahamas.

Disney destroy the coral? They are purpose using a jetty out beyond the coral reef to dock to stop so much damage. I’d be worried if Disney were making a honking great dock close to the island the huge pier they have designed to dock the ship will be much better for the environment. Some people are never happy. They just don’t want anything to be on the island. Disney will do a good job at preserving as much as possible and they will be bringing jobs to the island.

With coronavirus outbreak and borders closing not sure if Disney will be able to start this year or atleast or possibly they may end up starting construction later which may push back the opening date.

Man this new island and the new ships in the fleet couldn't have come at a worst time. In service sooner and they'd have made some money off the pre-pandemic tourism, come out later they'd lose less money from operational losses from the tourism downturn that's expected in the years to come.
