Fun fact: Legolas didn't even exist in the Hobbit books but they still cast him in the movies because of how popular he is.

I thought someone wouldn't be as surprised as legolas in middle earth seeing a dwarf carrying an elvish weapon but i guess because this is a movie the story has to appeal to those who did not watch lord of the rings or not familiar with the Tolkien's verse. Maybe they will have different thoughts.

Perhaps if the the Dwarves were with Gandalf then nothing would have happened here

JRR Tolkien is absolutely outstanding person..he could build civilization with his great mind..luckily his works turned into films in the hands of Peter Jackson..another briliant person..completed with great actors & film crews, et voila..here is one of the greatest masterpieces in cinema world.

It is so weird seeing the director and writers take all of bilbos accomplishments away from him and give them to a elf who wasn't born yet.

Interesting to see Legolas take such an interest in Orcrist. Although it's not in the subtitle, if you listen to his elvish dialogue you will hear him mention "Gondolin", the elf city of the First Age where those swords were forged.

Honestly bringing Legolas back for TH was a good idea. Legolas is.. what, 2800 years old? TH happend 60-ish years prior to the events of LOTR, so more than likely Legolas would actually have been there. Viggo Mortenson (Aragorn) was offered to reprise his role in TH but he declined because Aragorn wasn’t in The Hobbit. But even though Legolas wasn’t in TH, it was still a good decision on Orlandos part!

I only notice now but did Legolas just mentioned Gondolin?

I guess Legolas was an ok addition to the Hobbit films, even though he wasn't in the book.

Gloin is either an incredibly stoic/laidback individual or he doesn't really understand insults: Legolas told him that his wife looks like a male and his son like a horrid globin mutant

Honestly, seeing Orlando Bloom returning as Legolas in The Hobbit after 10 years was so nostalgic to watch. When I first watched this scene, the whole theater went cheering and clapping out loud. You can compare it to Andrew Garfield's return in No Way Home but, in someway, way more intense and exciting to watch.

It’s so cool seeing Legolas’s full on racism towards dwarves making his deep friendship with Gimli even more precious

Orcrist (goblin-cleaver) was made in the hidden city of Gondolin, during the first age in Beleriand.

The name is in sindarin, so legolas can claim “forged by my kin” as he is a sindar elf.
Every other elf in this scene is sylvan, and thus are too distant to make such a statement.

Sylvan elves stayed in middle earth, sindar elves lived in beleriand, when the war of wrath sunk beleriand, the remaining sindar kind of became the leaders over the sylvan.

What is with the weird captions ??

I like Legolas's character development. He starts off as annoying, selfish and rude (like his father) but changes a lot by the end of LOTR.

I love how Legolas and Tauriel’s voices sound deeper when they speak Elvish.

I like when legolas comes in he uses a dagger to cut the underbelly of the spider and then quickly changes to a bow and arrow to threaten thorin
