ОтветитьThanks for sharing👍
ОтветитьGood video, I have a few of the breeds you listed.
ОтветитьThanks for the comment about Reds being louder layers; I forgot about that! We had one and we would laugh about her, “Call of her people” when she would lay. In an urban are for now, getting chickens again, so will try a speckled instead. Also getting a barred, love those girls. Not sure what else yet.
ОтветитьI have herd many mixed feelings about Rhode Island Reds being very aggressive and down right mean? What is your opinion or any one else's opinion?
ОтветитьYour video popped up in my suggestions. Like to watch people recommending their favorites. I totally agree with the ISA Browns as a top choice. Had never heard of them until an Amish woman told me that was what she had. By far, the most productive layers I have ever had and very docile. I outcrossed them with other breeds over several years and would breed my crossed rooster to a new batch of hatchery ISA browns. It's pretty complex to explain, but I ended up with a flock that was 163/164ths ISA browns genetically. I was starting to just breed my own birds without ordering the pure ISA browns from the hatchery. They were looking like Bielefelder's in their color but laid eggs like ISA browns. Because of health problems, I had to sell out and lost those years of breeding and crossbreeding to achieve my own strain of ISA's. I love genetics and chickens so have started another project to achieve a blue chicken that lays green or bluish green eggs. I'm using some blue, black, and splash birds that have some white leghorn genes and crossing back to the leghorns again this year to increase size and number of eggs. Oh, the other breed crossed with the leghorns were Ameracana's . A blue (gray) chicken that breeds true is an elusive goal. May always have to settle for the blacks and the splashes along with the blues. A funny story is I had what I called a perfect blue rooster 2 yrs ago to breed to my best hens at the time. My first incubation of 37 eggs yielded not a single fertile egg. The rooster was sterile I suppose. Got rid of him and used a second choice rooster for the rest of the year. LOL I tend to get wordy while sharing my experiences so I need to shut up. HA
ОтветитьExcellent high points.
ОтветитьIf They Are Not Good Morhers, You Are Wasting Your Time,... i Have Raised Chickens since age 9, now am 70,YesBestAmericanas,
Black Maran, All the others Are Too noisy Atracting Predators,
Good morning my new friend. I saw your video and watched start to finish. Very informative and educational thank you. I aquired a coup and seven chickens two weeks ago. To date they have layed 33 eggs in 15 days. I hsve subscribed to be a part of your community. I have a lot to learn.
ОтветитьNo nonsense....I like that!
Ответитьi love my rode island reds also have golden whydotes
ОтветитьYou ask for “Heritage Rhode Island Reds” when ordering your chicks from any legitimate hatchery. They mature a little slower but are wonderful chickens
ОтветитьGokden comets , cinnamon queens , white leghorn and not far behind is red sexlinks .
They get any extra eggs boiled and broke up with the shells and fed back daily . They also get about 3 cups of sprouts for each breed daily .
I breed sexlink chickens from my speckled sussex and Colombia wyandottes . I also breed Indian river broilers from Delawares , New hampshire cross . I also breed the cross over white rock to keep a good vitality .
I kind of went overkill with my chicken barn . Its big .
