I wish I found this video a year ago when I first injured my hamstring. I’ve been trying to rehab it for months and nothing has seemed to work. Now I’m still dealing with it a year later

Will Foam rolling your quads help? I've seen that an imbalance between quads and hamstrings can help cause the strain in the first place.

Amazing information. I have a decent understanding of grade 1 hamstring injuries and so was rehabbing my original injury with some good success. But after some life events, it reinjured, got very weak, and has been reinjuring constantly before I can even have a chance to rehab it. I think it’s gone from grade 1 to 2 and I believe the weakness is coming from tightness in my core/pelvis. I am a driver who must sit for several hours, so the tightness makes sense, plus I’ve been neglecting working out most of my body as I’ve been waiting for my hamstring to improve. I realize now I must get back to stretching and working out my core more. As well as taking more walking breaks during my drive times. This has been tremendous.

very interesting....i tweaked my hammy and put ice on it and then massaged it...oops.....after watching this, I was a little too premature with the massage and although my hammy doesn't hamper my walking, I feel it when I bend over and pick up fairly light objects...my next course of action is rest, rest, rest.....let the body heal THEN help it along....great information

Hey any tips? i was in the pool and somebody jumped on my back. now im coping with pretty bad pain in my hamstring and a bit in my glutes. i went to physiotherapy but it didnt help. i tried doing the hamstring exercise by lying down and tucking my knee to the chest and straightening my leg but it hurts like hell. it didnt even get a little better after 5 weeks

I blew my hamstring out doing sprints. Felt like I got shot and stabbed at the same time. Oddly no bruising or swelling but extreme weakness and cramping searing pain. Still hurts years later

Hello! I was playing football, and felt a pop in my hamstring. Instantly stopped playing, as I wouldnt been able to. Was able to walk home, but with slight difficulties. Dont have bruising or a lot of swelling. Still able to walk, but can feel the pain. Im working in a restaurant, so walking is really essential to me. Should I start doing some exercises after 3-5 days? First time ever something happens with my hamstring. Im 30yo. Im scared that I might have torn it and need a surgery. Have no idea how long I wont be able to walk.

its been about near 3 months and it still hurts the exact same, Im not sure if it is a strain because it only hurts when i try to bend over, somewhat sharp, pulling and maybe even a burn like pain. I plan on going to the chiropractor on monday so we'll see what happens.

I'm strugling with this injury for 2 years. Hope it will help. I can run, but adding sprints or other high demand strain brings the pain again and next day i can't sit well ( Hope i still don't have scar tissue all over the place there and can get better. Can say for sure - stretches doesn't help. Massage balls make things much worse. Laser and magnet - didn't make much.

Markye just hurt myself tonight playing baseball. Sadly I wont be able to play baseball or perform swing dancing at our 1940's ball in Boulder this year, but I am feeling more hopeful in terms of the knowledge you are giving me to recover and get back stronger. Really appreciate you. Thank you 🙏

So many conflicting opinions on healing hams!!!
Massage/don't massage!
Stretch/don't stretch!
Ice/don't ice
heat/ don't heat!
Nsaids/ no nsaids...
One thing I've learned I did wrong was get drink the night mine went 😢. Damnit.
Will stick to ice amap, bone broth, red light and light stretching. Just started this on day 4. Think I have a grade 1 or 2

hi,i 'm having an issue with foot swelling in my left foot. so i'll give a brief medical history:

- no diabetes,
- 30 years old
- seriously working out since 2011
- foot drop in 2016-2017; physiotherapy from 2017 to 2018: slightly helpful
- some random gym owner that saw me walking out the gym who gave me 3 massage sessions in 2018: made me walk again
- 2023, currently have an issue with my swelling in my foot: swelling occurs top of the foot... left of the top... between bottom of toes and left ankle.
- slight stiffness in between the matatarsal + cuboid bone (feels like a knuckle that needs cracking, but wont)
- finally, slight discomfort under the connection of the matatarsal + cuboid, like the muscle at the bottom of in my instep
- i took some antibiotics for an alleged, mild STI and the swelling stopped for about 3 weeks
- in those 3 weeks i stopped going to the gym
- yesterday, i went to the gym and did: flat, incline and decline bench press, 4 standing movements for shoulders, 1 movement for triceps, and 3 sets of calf raises, 20 reps each
- today, the same swelling has slightly returned to my left foot

Any advice?

edit: the wellness test evaluation i was given by the nurse was "prime condition" also, my urine was clean
