A credit to you guy's for this Vlog. I have been a fulltime van lifer for 13 year's and often see vloggers that are new to this lifestyle trying to explain van life. pretty much most of them have not got a clue in reality. So i watched this vlog thinking it will be just as bad as others explaining it. How pleasantly wrong i was. Your explanation after just 18 month's was actually very informative and extremely accurate. NO vanlife in the uk is not the easiest, yet you can and have proven how you can make it easier. I love the fact that you don't outstay a welcome, as those that do give us the bad name and the ever popping up no parking signs.
Not wishing to speak out of turn, but i class you as newbies. And with a huge smile on my face can say. You guy's have researched learned listened and worked out how to be a friendly and considerate couple of vanlifers that will go out of there way to tell the locals that you like to spend money in the local infrastructure whilst you are there etc. So many vanlifers take the micky out of places and then complain they can't find a park up. Top work guy's Top bloody work. Keep spreading the good vibe.
I used to use vans as my only vehicle, so the only troubles I can see with having a Luton body or high roof camper conversion is that in the last 10 or so years, a lot of retail parks, some supermarkets, and most countryside carparks have been busy adding height restriction bars across their entrances. This may cause problems if you can't get into the only carpark near a place where you want to be a few days.
There's also parking issues on those occasions where you DO need to stray into cities (Hospital appointments, dental visits, etc). In most cities, on street parking has spaces barely big enough for a short wheelbase Transit, so a MWB or LWB van doesn't have a chance, and multi-storey carparks are right out of the question. This doesn't leave a lot of options, so you could find that the nearest usable parking spot isn't realistically even within a reasonable cycling distance of where you need to be.
Mind you, taking larger converted vans into some cities in the UK could already land you with a big CAZ/ULEZ fee as most vans will still be classified as an "N class" commercial vehicle, and they get hammered in most of the clean air zones. If your vans maximum curb weight is over 3.5t, (most of the L3 and L4 Mercedes sprinters spring to mind) a lot of cities now just hit you with a blanket £100 daily charge. It seems pretty unfair, because if the van was originally registered as a motorhome, a lot of the time it would be charged the same as a normal car.
Wait..its illegal in UK?
ОтветитьI have to move out of my rented house, i am interested in this live style thanks for the video.
ОтветитьThanks for your video! Really enjoyed everything about your content, informative, fun, responsible, cool. Love the Green Truck with Removals! Looks quint and Old world which is everything I love. York looks so inviting, I hope to also walk down that cobblestone street with my love. love and peace. 🌻🌱
Ответитьany parking for tri wheel coaches coz thats what we want to get
ОтветитьAn interesting view on van life. We have been motorhoming in the UK and abroad for 18 years and dont want to stop. We are approaching retirement so to be able to continue without having to constantly use expensive sites will be important to us, we cant sustain it otherwise. Its easy in Europe, they have the infrastructure for it, no need to stealth camp, public camping is often free but if not is just a few Euros, the UK needs to catch up!
ОтветитьCau dy geg pen pidyn. It's not illegal to live from your campervan
ОтветитьAs a york resident, I can’t believe you found a place near the town centre that wasn’t double yellow or permit only! Great video.
ОтветитьYou cant have a legal driving licence if you live in a van. ? You need an address to have a valid licence and insurance. ? So how can van life be legal? Serious questions.
ОтветитьMay i ask the total cost of the van and conversion?
Guessing 7 for the van 7 to 10 k for the conversion?
fantastic explaination.
ОтветитьCaravan,van,tent better than house,unit
Ответитьi lived vanlife for 2 years, had a toilet a little cold shower, little portable 2 burner kitchen and a 12v fridge, bed a basin...... no luxuries just the basics....having a vehicle is expensive due to car revisions, insurance, fuel, repairs, but if you have a friend or are good at fixing stuff it is not so bad. and no.... it is not more lonelysome than living in an apartment....wild camping= boondocking, meaning parking free wherever
Ответить"Wild camping" we used to call that squatting
ОтветитьAwesome video thank you! (I changed the speed to 0.75 on settings so I could take it all in 😜)
ОтветитьGreat video folks !!!
ОтветитьOh shut up.
ОтветитьStupid hat
ОтветитьSo weird to use the term wild camping as its not wild and its not camping. I didn't realise that van life means you have the leach off facilities of others so much. The video is good as it does really show the reality.
ОтветитьYea… simply the wrong country to do that in mate… go to portugal, somewhere with lots of space and less regulations, that’s vanlife. Else you’re just a nuisance ro other people
ОтветитьIs Vanlife a term that the middle class use instead of ‘Travellers’? 😂
ОтветитьMorrison's are also one of the dwindling number of places that often have LPG pumps for those with tanks. Furthermore they have never hiked the price to take advantage of supply constraints. My worry is that now they are owned by a US hedge fund things will start to change. Sometimes park4night makes great sense for my situation, but I having to look for facilities every morning would be too much effort for me; the energy of youth....
ОтветитьNice video. Thanks for sharing Info.
Ответить"wild camp"? LOL, thank god for america and our public lands!
ОтветитьWhat a lovely couple you guys are. Thanks for the very informative video.👍👍👍
ОтветитьTruly amazing insight. Pure joy. And realistic too. I'm about to embark on this adventure in Sydney Australia and your video has just woken me up to the fact that there is a very stealthy gloriously secretive scene happening here too. Ready for explorations. Many thanks guys for your energy and enthusiasm ❤😊
ОтветитьUsing gas gives you loads of condensation, fit or make a small wood burner you can cook on.
ОтветитьPublic swimming baths for a shower and washing those smalls whilst your there!
ОтветитьIs it true that UK van life has become extremely tough and difficult. I keep seeing bloggers post about it
ОтветитьIt’s only cheap ‘ cause you won’t spend the money. Like most Brits the obsession is about saving money. Even on the Continent they always look for the cheapest places that sell fish and chips/ breakfasts. Have met people who have £100,000 Campers looking for free toilets in Supermarkets who are in need of a wash. Miserly.
Ответитьwho do you get insurance from when living in a van i just got refused when i said i would be living in the van
ОтветитьJust found you guys….I have a VW Caravelle (Vanessa) don’t live in her, but have always loved the idea of doing this.
Thank you for your insights and beautiful way of living😍🔥🌈🙌🦋✨
You can blame the dirty crusty new age travellers for a lot of the restrictions in the UK. The ones with their ketamine, heroin, Special Brew and ill treated dogs on string. Dirty feckers!
ОтветитьNice one Derek thanks for a good honest video. Woulda been nice to hear a little more from Shirley too. Enjoyed that!
Ответитьeesh! water from cemeteries? bit harsh aint it? hats allocated for people to water dead loved ones flowers. plus, its often limited parking, id be fuming if a vanlifer was busy nabbing water and didnt let me pay respects
ОтветитьHow is it illegal
ОтветитьHow can you live in a van with a smelly dog! Especially in the uk where it rains all the time. A Wet smelly dog in your van . No thanks. Has to be tough living with another person. Cramped and constantly in each other’s face. Best I did in a house was 7 years I don’t think we would’ve lasted 7 minutes in a van!😂 best of luck 👍
Ответитьparking on a road = deadly dangerous. When vehicles break down, occupants are advised to get out of their vehicle and get away from the roadside... for a reason.
ОтветитьVery interesting. I am considering seriously to live in a van .
ОтветитьMake it sound harder than it is
ОтветитьI'm an Aussie who has done 2 (out of 4) driving trips of the UK in hired campervans..I liked having no pressure to be at a destination by a certain time in order to check into booked accommodations...I did research before my trips of where I'd like to park-up at night, and a couple were a fail, but I was able to move on and would find even better places to park..the first thing I always did was check the/for signs to see if it was allowed, if not, move on...man did I find some interesting nooks and crannies...one morning I woke up to wild Northumbrian ponies munching on shrubbery on the other side of my spot..it was in the wetlands/dunes of the Northumbrian coastline..another good spot was south of York..they redirected the road and the old section was left as a layby spot for truckies/travellers to park overnight..there is a carpark in St Andrews that is paid parking during the day and free overnight...it overlooks the coastline running alongside St Andrews golf course..there are loads more..cul-de-sac's..its endless..I liked being able to take my bed with me, but at a pinch I knew I could pay to park in any service stations along the motorways..
Ответитьawesome as usual...yay
ОтветитьAh, so youre the guy who keeps bringing liters of piss with him into Morrisons lol
ОтветитьCome back to India..you can park literally anywhere.
ОтветитьIm member of national trust for scotland free parking but overnight dont know but good enough for stopping to rest for hours or cook meals etc.
Ответить
