Unreported Worlds: Fleeing Poverty in Venezuela: https://youtu.be/6fbuvOj2Bz4

00:00 Haiti - Prison from Hell
Seyi Rhodes has managed to gain access to Haiti’s prison system, where thousands of people are held without charge for years at a time without being given the chance to appear in court. He meets some of these prisoners – and the lawyer battling to get them released.

24:16 Madagascar - Girls Behind Bars
Unreported World meets the young girls in Madagascar held in prison without trial for up to two years for crimes as little as stealing an onion. Datshiane Navanayagam stays with the small inmates in pre-trial detention and learns that some parents think their daughters are dead because no one bothered to tell them they’d been jailed.

My respect to the lawyers who try to help all these prisoners being held for probably no reason. And the girls in Madagascar prisons: what hell for the parents and family as they have no clue what happened to their girls. I do believe there’s nothing worse for a parent. Again, respect to all organizations trying to help.

This is heartbreaking. As a software engineer, I believe that some of these problems can be fixed by digitizing the court and prison systems. How can we help fix this?
-----------
C'est déchirant. En tant qu'ingénieur en logiciel, je pense que certains de ces problèmes peuvent être résolus en numérisant les systèmes judiciaires et carcéraux. Comment pouvons-nous aider à résoudre cela ?

As always in prison documentaries all the prisoners are innocent and the world is so cruel to them 🙄the condition in these prisons only reflect the conditions outside. Haiti has among the worst crime in the world. I challenge the interviewers to live in these conditions themselves, get robbed, raped or worse, and then try to sympathize with the prisoners again.

I know it’s sound hard and I am no racist but isn’t there a way to buy them out of prison ? Like yk what I mean and they work for you until it’s paid off in a better living condition thoo I mean the country needs the money and people need labor so yea it’s kinda like a slave system but I bet lots of these guy would wanna do this instead of just beeing there

The problem with Haiti justice system is that no one is actually doing their job .. if a group of volunteer lawyers from US were to go there they prolly could organize those cases and free those are actually innocent and train the staff to ensure how to do it right and not be lazy..it can actually be a functioning jail system
