I’m British, a retired climber and mountaineer who is still active in the outdoors at age 77.
Let me say straight away that appropriate clothing for “the great outdoors” is not a problem. I have a lifetime of experience in that area. It’s the rest of my life that gives me pause.

My wardrobe consists of jeans, dark trousers, chinos; T-shirts, white, neutral; marinières; knitwear, V-neck, jumpers and cardigans also in plain, neutral as well as dark colours and the OCCASIONAL pop of colour. There is no occasion in my life when I could be comfortable in any of the following: ballerines , court shoes, little black dress (any kind of dress), white button down shirt, skirt. BUT I would like to know how to look effortlessly put together in those items I own and which suit me. Please, do you have some styling tips for someone like me? Merci.

French = Italian
Paris = Milan

If you live in Australia I woukd be really grateful if you would list clithing from Aust stores- it is soooo frustrating to have people recommend stores particularly from US which are a nightmare to have delivered to Australia, if it can even be done

Good quality coat! Classic style like a trench. I bought a high end winter coat (long), gun-metal grey, fine wool over 40 years ago and I still wear it and love it. It drapes beautifully and goes with anything from daytime casual or an evening wear dress. (I don't think that designer exists anymore)

I have always loved the look of white blouses on other ppl- but its clear- I look so bad in white near my face- it drains my face of colour. Even when I got married everyone agreed I look awful in bright white. - so the stylist recommended light yellow. Id there another classic colour?

If I have to consider another Breton- Shirt or sweater in horizontal stripes....I will get physically sick!!!

I love scarves! For me they're more comfortable than a necklace re: metal on my neck. I have quite a collection and most of them are silk. They are easy to collect and you can buy them whenever especially on sale. I also buy them whenever I travel and they are light to carry. I never check them in my bag! Because they are very special to me with memories and all I always carry them on a plane with my shoe orthotics.

A large, light weight (or heavy for winter or if designed with tiny mirrors and embroidery) Indian shawl or scarf. This is always the finishing touch for any outfit, and often I need it -for a breezy day or cool environment. There are so many ways to drape them.

Im currently getting back to classics, and updating my wardrobe (clearing out the cluttered closet and donating it). I have several of the pieces, but do want an updated belt. I believe an important part of the classic look is the fit of your clothing. I’m short so I always have my clothes altered to fit me perfectly. This way I’m wearing my clothes, not my clothes wearing me 🥰💕😉
