Is a RTX 4080 Worth the Upgrade for 4K-Ultra Gaming?

It just doesn't do enough at that price to justify the jump. Especially for those of us that don't have a 4k monitor.

Just got my strix 4080 oc a couple days paired with my 13900k ...i can tell performance is night and day compared to my evga rtx 3080ti ftw3 ultra. Power efficient and the tech that comes with it.

I had that same dell 3080 and I traded it plus $1000 for a used 4090.

I feel the 4080 is the best in terms of price to performance and future proofing

Hi i have a 3080 right now! my specs is motherboard msi Z690 ram 32 gigs power supply 850 titanium! liquid cooled, oh and a i7700k! just got this pc a few monthes ago! But im a little worried about the only 10 gigs of vram. So im thining of saving up for a 4080!

I'm thinking about making that jump from the 3080 12gb either to the 4080 or the 7900 xtx

Extra FPS is always a good thing at 4K! So yes I think upgrading to the RTX 4080 is definitely a good thing!

Just an obvious thing to check. Make sure your you tube setting quality is set to 4K.

I have a 3080 at 1440P and would like a 4080+4K in the future but don't know if it's worth it. Some say that the picture is amazing, some say it's a waste of money. What is your opinion ?

I got myself the Gigabyte RTX4080 OC 16GB, although it cost me a arm and a leg I'm very happy with it.
I have no regrets buying it, I game in 4K too with high settings and I love it, and I record on the same PC i play on as you do with the built in Nvidia Recording feature.

Is it worth changing my graphics card to a 4080 would I for sure get 4k Everytime and have a smooth run? I want to play ultra high with 4k! Or should I spend the extra money and get a 4090

Personally, I think its worth it. I absolutely love my 4080. I have my 4080 paired with a 7950x and 64gb DDR5 6000Mhz. I play at 3440x1440 and I can't tell you how much I truly love this GPU. I upgraded from a 3080 Ti, and typically I get anywhere from 20-60 fps more with my 4080 than I did with the 3080 Ti. The extra frames are nice, but it just feels so much smoother too. Frames are so much more stable, I consume a max of 340w with my Gigabyte Gaming OC 4080, but typically it sits around 300w, and my 3080 Ti consumed 350w easily. After I got it, I was scared I would end up wishing I got the 4090. I do not regret it. I know its expensive, but if you can afford it, I absolutely recommend it.

I don't understand why people just burn money still @ 1080GTX 8GB 7 yeahrs old sitll playing 1440P @ 60 - 100 FPS and max 180Watts on GTA 5 PUBG .... 4K monitors will only make you poor

If all your games you play are dlss capable. Then all you need is the rtx 3080. Skip the 4000 series and wait for the 5000 series. I would rather lower a few settings than spend close to $2000 just to play on ultra.

In the UK it would cost from a 3080 to 4080 for a extra 15fps £1000 to upgrade is it worth it ?

TBH this isn't a very useful comparison. The 3080 is not a 4k GPU. The 3090 is. You should be comparing the 3090 w/ the 4080.

Maybe bad decision, but I did buy the RTX 4080. I will sell PS5 (which I don't use anymore), old GPU and some other stuff to reclaim most of the money. My old system I also sold at a good price. I'm pairing the 4080 with a ryzen 7 7700x and 32GB of memory. I've been building pc's for the last 7 years, and this is the first time I'm going into the high-end stuff.

If the 4080 was $800 I think many 3080 and some of those 1080ti or 2080ti owners would Upgrade even if it was the exact same in the Hierarchy between the 4090 and 4080 or more powerful but It's Nvidia Afterall
It's just a shame Nvidia didn't do what they did before and also gave the 70 tier 256bit 16gb vram like they did many generations between Kepler and Ampere barring two occasions the cards had different vram. They could have differentiated the cards on what core they are on AD103 vs AD104 and the peformance and one being on G6 and other being G6x without shaving down the Vram and bus

So would a 4080 upgrade make sense if I was to get a 4k monitor? Or should I wait?

im new to pc so sorry that my questions are very dumb. 1) if i build a pc and graphics card is a 4080, will fps be super high and good if i play on high settings (option before 4k)? 2)if i use the 4080 graphics card in high setting (but not 4k) gameplay (example in apex legends), does it heat less or it heats the same amount as if i play on 4k high setting? btw. i play on 1600x900 res size on windowed mode. on a potato laptop. thank you

Should I wait until a 4080 ti comes out?

I went from a 3070 2k setup that could barely get 60 fps with games maxed out to a 4080 4k setup, maxed out settings with games always at 80+fps native for AAA games and I have zero regrets, if I don't like the fps and frametime for a game I'll just turn shadows down a setting and usually get 15-20% improvement. The 4080 is a perfect solution for the 4090 that is honestly overkill for 4k.

So if DLSS is a Godsend free FPS boost then why wouldn't you compare 3080 with DLSS on vs 4080? I mean if you can get that much more out of your card than why not do that before deciding to possibly spend $1200 to $1800....
