New Fake Toonie in Circulation!! Most Advanced So Far? Or Obvious Fake? $1,000 Toonie Hunt!!

Fake toonies have the been a scourge on the Canadian economy, and for collectors, as well. Coin roll hunters are taking HUGE risks picking up large quantities of toonies to hunt. One collector I know picked up a box that was entirely counterfeit cameltoe toonies ($1,000 worth!). In that case, he noticed before he left the bank and was able to exchange for real coins. If a collector couldn't exchange the, that could be devastating. For seasoned collectors, the ubiquitous cameltoe toonie is easy to spot. But, a new counterfeit has been spotted in the wild. It's causing some confusion - particularly amongst collectors, as it has the look of a proof (or even a silver toonie - yes those really do exist!). More to the point, however, counterfeiters are getting closer to mimicking the security features on new toonies that are supposed to keep the coin supply safe...
