My great grandfather was one of the photographers who made this film. His name is in the credits. I'm only half Russian, the other half is German. I know certain of my ancestors who fought on both sides. It's interesting to know they could have fought and killed each other.

Why is this age restricted? Does not make any sense. This is first-hand footage of WWII. You tube not very bright...

The Russians only beheaded the Nazi regime with the Capture of Berlin. There were 3,000,000 German soldiers on a war footing yet in some parts of Europe (the Netherlands, the north of Italy, Yugoslavia, etc.) when Berlin fell. Some German high-rank generals advised Hitler to leave Berlin, but Hitler wanted to fight until the end in his capital.

The narrowing front allowed the Nazis to concentrate their forces making it very difficult for the Red Army. Also the Germans pulled the majority of forces back underground for the Russian bombardment. It was wasted on dirt and rocks.

I Just didn't like It even more because It doesn't have subtitles in portuguese, but even without understanding I liked the documentary. Are there any brazilians here?

I’ve put the English subtitles on which was a great find, but out of interest, can someone please tell me why some letters are consistently replaced by an n with a ‘ above it? For example the words “campaigns” and “patriotic” are spelt “nampaigns” and “patriotin”. This has happened consistently since the beginning of the doco. It doesn’t bother me, I’m just curious as to why that’s happening. Thanks
