ОтветитьFor anyone with any introspective abilities whatsoever, this video is a complete waste of time. I know VERY well WHY I am triggered... that's half of the torture! I DON'T know how to get past it. Been in therapy for decades for a multitude of loss and trauma, and still no one has the answer to how to handle fear when you've already experienced the thing you're terrified of. No one can tell me that it won't ever happen. It already f***ing did! So tired of dead-end "self- help" information. 😑

ОтветитьI love this video, though I might suggest that while triggers are often an overreaction to something many people would find blameless, it isn’t necessarily so. It can as well be an intense emotional reaction to something people might also have a response towards, but the key here is that while many move past that situation, the triggered person experiences much stronger emotions and it is harder for them to move past that situation. Triggers are not just pointed at “harmless” things, but can also be an initial normal reaction to an adequated situation, that then escalates into bigger emotions.

ОтветитьFor anyone that reads this, I need your help/input. With all the horrible things happening in the world right now, the most triggering for me has been the war on Gaza. I get so easily triggered and I have been more anxious in the past 2 months than I have been the whole year. I happen to have done my masters in Israel and met the person I feel is the love of my life there. This situation however has been completely triggering for both of us and in the 1.5 years we’ve dated, this is the first time we’ve fought consistently over an issue. Being an empath has not helped me here because my feelings tend to take over when I see the horror in Gaza. I try to not watch them a lot but I feel that it is necessary for us to see what is happening even though it’s so triggering. How do I overcome this? Or manage the anxiety that has come with having this knowledge?

ОтветитьI’m thinking to be triggered you need trauma and growth of bad brain health on top of it, coming from your past. Setting the table for more in the future. Upscaling the trauma ,triggers,and bad brain health until you pinpoint the sources. Spec scan and read Dr. Daniel Amens book ,The End of Mental illness, and you’ll find it’s Brain health . A rubber band snap can change things,but if you deal with the problems they don’t spring back to your detriment.

ОтветитьOkay I am past anger or fear. When I am triggered I am right. The people in my world today are the same kind of awful. I can spot a narcissist, psychopath and their behavior is all the same. When I have to coexist my anxiety is triggered because I know bad things will happen.

ОтветитьI found that being able to choose from 4 options and labeling the trigger pattern helped enormously ...1..blocking me for no good reason 2 .expectations not bappening 3.something not said or expressed 4 denial of existence ..the last one would devastate me ,but as a child if I didn't " follow the narcissists script " I'd be blasted even for little things ...if rejected in any way it would bring all that ba ck . Now I just name the trigger and the emotion disappears as not relevant to the situation present day .

ОтветитьYeah - the having someone to patiently hold/be patiently held by - that's the hard part. If there's nobody, the work is not easy. Clever self soothing is really hard to maintain year after year and eventually seems to wear a bit thin.

ОтветитьNot all triggers need to be calmed. Any revolution (no matter on a small scale) is created from triggering & releasing anger (could go anywhere on a spectrum from healthy to unhealthy anger)
For instance, women must learn to lash out against sexism & sexist jokes
Instead of calming themselves & normalising it, hence enabling it in society
Focus in the now and the fear, thoughts and anxiety dissapears!
