I'm always surprised when Stu says that he hasn't played some game. In my mind he's played them all.

I had heard of Skitching before, because there was a minor ado about an ad for it. Because as part of the ad copy they were rhyming words with the title and one of them was "Bitchin'". And that got some eyebrows up.

The magazine reviews for Skitchin that I remember were all basically "It's good, but it's basically just another Road Rash, 80ish %." Personally thought it was underrated when I finally played it. It's obviously based on Road Rash, but having to use passing cars if you want to really speed up added an additional level of skill. Cracking game that I'd love to see a modern version of.

The Genesis and Blockbuster game rentals just about defined my childhood.

I had the Sega Genesis with the Sega CD addon. I loved playing Lethal Enforcers with that big ass blue revolver light gun. Tomcat Alley and Rebel Assault were also fantastic. Dragon's Lair was also a favorite but for some reason I could never beat some levels without plugging in a different controller for them specifically, even though they all worked fine. Really odd

And yes, the Sonic & Knuckles adapter did funky stuff to a couple other games as well.

It’s a horrifying mass of clunky shiny plastic that has no aesthetic value whatsoever. It looks like a prop from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Ugly as sin. But we LOVED it. 😂

There are also 32X Mega CD games. I had one called Supreme Warriors. It's a first person FMV beat-em-up. But it was basically just a lot of very hard Quick Time Events.

Getting the game to run was almost impossible on it's own.

I was lucky enough to have a Megadrive and a Snes. And I will admit, even though I was a huge Sega fan getting my Master System for Xmas when I was 7 years old. The Snes was better, and with some game ports like Street Fighter 2, a really really lot better. Megadrive had a better library of games.
When we would have a lot of friends round the snes out did the Megadrive easily.
When there's about 10 of you and we're playing 2 player games where winner stays on and pad 1 goes to the left and pad to goes to the right. Then the snes and it's games couldn't be beat, for the time. Playing Super Mario Kart and Street Fighter 2 on snes with a group of people in the situation I gave was so much fun. But if you wanted to just play some quality games on your own the Megadrive was the better option.

The "graph paper" design on the Megadrive game boxes is a negative design of the Master System game boxes.
SMS games were in a white box with dark lines. SMD games were in a black box with light lines.

just want to shout out a hong kong unlicensed game for mega drive titled magic bubble which is imho one of the best puzzle games for the system, just behind puyo puyo/robotnik’s mean bean machine and ahead of columns (ymmv).
it’s a little wonky and takes some time to master, but it’s surprisingly fun as hell and very few people know of it.

The megadrive and mega cd looks really cool.

Traded my gameboy with games for the megadrive. Later bought the 32 bit upgrade. Loved it!

Forgot to mention you can have the Megadrive 1 also attached to Mega Cd 2. You needed the tray expansion for Mega CD 2.

I owned the 32X back in the days and bloody love it for a hot 5 minutes....I was so young I assumed I was shit at playing the games, rather than the games being shit.

For a arcade game ported onto consoles. Revolution X on PS1 was the best port.

Dammnnnn. I have a mega drive II sitting the attich with some games. I knew the bigger first one existed but did not know about all that extra stuff!

I like cex as a shop but theyre a little crap as a buissness. Ive caught em quite a few times printing new case inserts for disc games and even more annoying advertising fake controllers as real cause the people working there cant tell

The Mega CD looked a lot better then the American version of the Sega CD we got. It only made the console twice as wide while this just looks like it's laying on a CD player

The yellow lump on the cartridge was an Electronic Arts thing - you can see their old logo printed on it. 😉

Still fancier and slicker than those yellow tinted super nes/famicoms
