Good info.
ОтветитьCan I use wire furrels for the 150 watt fuse? 4 awg wire or should I just use bare wire? I'm doing a big 3 and I was hoping to use ring terminals but the anl fuse I have I have to bolt down
ОтветитьSo if my 4 channel amp has round connections is it ok to use the set screw to crimp the wire ferrule like you did on the power wire?
Ответитьthanks mark. did you say that tool does both square and hex crimps? I want to use a ferrule to go into the mini-anl fuse block (10awg wire). it is a round terminal w/set screw. so, square or hex crimp, or NO crimp and just use the set screw? cheers.
ОтветитьThe stupidity of this is mind boggling. Those plated ferrules are plated with a metal that is 6 times less conductive than the copper. Seriously? You thought because they clean up the wise that was a good idea? Figures since your using the same crappy tin plated wire to power your amp. Brillant.
ОтветитьNever knew about these. Always used copper lugs with the bolt end cut off. Battery terminals are a bitch cause they say holes are for X gauge wire and give you a hole with a ton of slop. The lug helps take up that extra space, but for the price of 3 2 packs of 2 gauge lugs, you can buy 166 of these in all different sizes.
ОтветитьDo they make a ferrule crimping tool for a four gauge Ferrule I can't seem to find one for a four gauge
Ответитьthese can be really hard to find the right brand of. smaller wire isnt bad but larger power wire - so many brands have excessive long furrels so a large chunk sticks out of any amp so you need to side cut them to length. then many have those insulated ends that hardly ever fit over the wire jacket. id love to have a hex crimper for larger gage but they are SO MUCH money. the cheap ones are just not good enough. milwalkee sells one for like 2500 that works with their batteries.
ОтветитьI keep running into the problem of once I put the ferrule in the power/ground input on the amp and tighten down the screw. I can’t get the wire back out. It squishes ferrule against the sides of the input and it gets stuck. Maybe I’m tightening it down too hard?
ОтветитьThanks for the excellent video! Love ferrules & am surprised that more folks in the US don't know about their uses & how essential they are. Have been using them recently on some projects including my outside AC condenser unit. In other countries, but not in the US, in 120V/220V applications, it is against code to connect stranded wire to screw lug terminals, as it will result in splaying of the strands resulting in a poor connection (wires mashed down & not all strands making a good connection). I installed a SureSwitch contactor to replace my standard contactor in my AC unit. It has screw lug terminals & I used ferrules to make the connections. Even though the connections were round, I still believe that there is better contact than using bare strands. As others have pointed out, there are crimpers that make a hex crimp instead of a square crimp to better fit in round terminals.
Ответитьmy terminal is 8 ga my wire is 4 ga. is there a way to fit it or should i order 8ga?
ОтветитьThis video single handedly upped my game. My install looks so clean it's scary! Beautiful connections! Thank you so much. 2 DB55s, 2 USS 8", 6 6.5" DS18 Pros, 4 DS18 Tweeters, 2 3.6" Kenwood, 2 Infiniti 6x9s, 2 JBL 6x9s, 2 8" K9s in a sealed box. Thanks again!
ОтветитьCan you recommend a same style crimp tool for AWG #6 Cable? Thank you!
ОтветитьI didn't even know these existed. This is awesome. Thank you!
ОтветитьUnfortunately with punch series amps the ferrules will not fit. Nor will they fit for fosgate distribution blocks. It does work on rf series. Another solution I am using is connectors from stinger. You can even get a reducer as well from them. I will be heat shrinking them onto the cable.
Ответитьyou are the man, this channel is gold!
Ответитьthanks for the video, what do you use when you have the little pancake screw connestors at the amp?,
ОтветитьI'm having an issue finding these locally would soldering the wire help with this problem
ОтветитьCan i use 4 aught on a 1aught input
ОтветитьDidnt know about these thanks for the great vid
ОтветитьQuestion: Would there be a problem filling the connector with solder after crimping? My thought was soldering would give a bit less resistance as well as sealing out moisture/oxygen making a more reliable connection.
May I have your opinion about this please?
They work great with solar systems too.
ОтветитьShould you use these when you install the remote wire as well and what size would remote wire be and could you use them on amp fuze and dispo block thanks for the info been outt the sound game for bout 25 years now so this stuff is all new to me
ОтветитьDont know why, but seeing your ''wire job'' is soooo satisfaying for me! haha. theyre so clean!
ОтветитьI think the tool would result in greater area of contact, which is one of the purposes of using a crimping tool.
ОтветитьI can’t fit the 1/0 ferrules in the audio control amp. Anyone have a suggestion?
Ответитьgreat info thanks
ОтветитьWow!..thank you so much for this🤩🤩👍👍..Oh p.s i order that crimp set😂😂
ОтветитьIs it better to use OFC copper or tinned copper for ferrules to amplifier?
Ответитьthanks i was getting ready to do some audio on my harley and looking for some ideas
ОтветитьThanks! You save my life with this. Bought a Rockford marine amp and I was racking my brain trying to figure out how to get that 2 guage wire to fit in those little slots on the amp block! Thank you so much for posting the link as well!
ОтветитьI have been recently watching a lot of videos on car audio, upgrading the factory sound in my 22' Telluride from the pretty unimpressive system it came with. This video was probably the best one to just make the install look cleaner. I ended up ordering the kit through the link and it is so much nicer having those little metal end caps crimped onto the wires than constantly re twisting the bare copper ends anytime I remove a wire to check something and have to get it back into the LOC or amp.!
ОтветитьGreat videos. Saving them All. Thank you !
Sadly, this is my first time using ferrules.
Quick questions ...... Have you ever broke a plastic terminal block on and amp with 4g wire + ferrule, using the method of screwing it down to crimp ? That's what I am a bit worried about, and am having a hard time finding a crimper that will do 4g. And I hope not to have to pay a lot for it. Lol. I plan on using 8g, 4g, and 1/0g, but the 1/0 uses metal terminal blocks, so not that worried about breakage. And the 8g crimpers I can get but have look closely at specs before buying. Alot don't do 8g. Any suggestions on the 4g crimpers or just screw down? Thanks.
Thank u audio control
ОтветитьProblem is using zero ga wire in a 4 ga input like on Rockford amps
ОтветитьHey there just wanted to know if this is a good amp wiring kit “KnuKonceptz Blue KCA Complete 8 Gauge Amp Installation Wiring Kit” im installing a 10in kicker down firing box it’s got the shallow comp RT with a kicker key500.1 amp so seeing if this wire kit would pair ?
Ответить🙏🙏🙏 Been looking for this for 2H 😂😂
ОтветитьThank you so much for all of your videos, they are so helpful. I deal with a stereo, then years go by and I dont do anything, so I forget whatever Ive learned. I was trying to figure out how I was going to crimp 4 and 8 gauge wire using the crimping tool Your video helped me figure it out.... you dont use a tool....lol
ОтветитьGreat video just what I needed on a rewire. I have a rewiring nightmare
ОтветитьAwesome video
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьCan I use these Ferrules to crimp wire for home audio spring connector in amplifier?
ОтветитьI miss the round style inputs I have a kenwood with the Phillip's and the square one with the screw in the middle of it
ОтветитьI coat my stranded ends in flux then dip in molten silver-tin plumbing solder.
ОтветитьHave you ever used ferrules on a Rockford Fostgate PBR400 amp that has a plug?
ОтветитьHey what’s the name of the electrical tape you use ?
ОтветитьLost a screw out of my amp for one of my speaker channels, what do I do? Buy a new amp?
