I've taken a few days to comment. I couldn't help but cry with you. I have had to rehome a horse, but under different circumstances. I was in a place where my husband's health was failing and we needed to reduce our whole lives. I still cry over the loss even though she passed away in 2011. Sometimes our decision are made from the head, but the heart doesn't agree. I am sending a virus hug, from one broken hearted horsey mama to another. You have made a hard decision based on all the right reasons.

Lola was sold because she enjoyed/was better at doing one thing dressage.

But Emily wants to do/be better at another thing eventing.

So Emily could of kept Lola and just done dressage with her.

Kept Lola and done nothing with her.

Or sold her to someone else to do dressage with her.

She chose the latter I think so they can both go forward and be happy.

Hopefully it will work out that way.

Are you getting another horse or just staying with spritey? I’m not gonna lie now but I cried all this vlog 🥺

I noticed her advert while looking on a sales site a few weeks ago. It’s the end of an epic adventure for sure but you have set up miss Lola for success and taught her the skills she need to be an amazing horse for her future. You can be so proud of the horse she has become and thank her as you move towards the next chapter for yourself too x good Luck Lola in your new home. And sending hugs to you Em as you find your way onto the next stage of your equestrian journey x

I'm sorry to see sweet Lola go but like you said she's going to a wonderful home who's goals are more in line with Lola's skill set and what she enjoys. She'll be cared for and loved and happy and able to reach her full potential and once you're ready you'll be able to find a new horse who will align with your goals and you'll grow to adore. I'm sure it feels awful right now but it's only up from here- for both of you!

Lola is a very pretty mare, and does look best in the dressage ring. I'm sure you'll feel better soon and no doubt have many more exciting rides and horses in your future and you do still have the adorable Spritey :)

Oh my, what an emotional one. Tears in my eyes which rolled the moment Spite whinnied when you got back. Wishing Lola all the best in her new home and such a brave decision you made! I know I was in pieces just having to think that moment may be looming for myself and my pony when we really struggled with major loading issues. What memories you have to look back on!

Everytime your voice broke I was absolutely bawling. I got my horse at the very same time you got her, and she was my 2nd horse too, and we are in very much the same situation - I want to go do xyz and she wants to do ABC. So I can fully appreciate just how heartbreaking this decision was to make for you. I know this was 6 months ago and you have got Addie who you're doing amazingly with but just had to comment! You made such a huge brave decision and that takes serious guts 🥰

I know this is very much after the fact and you probably won’t see this but I appreciated seeing this. My young horse, who really has the talent to be a top event horse, just doesn’t love it like I do. She is fab in the dressage and is happiest there. So I’m going to look into finding a dressage home for her! You did what’s best for her and that’s what matters. Not every person wants to event, not every horse wants to event. Makes me feel better going forward with my mare so thank you for sharing!
