Like my coaches told me, when I played baseball in high school. “If you hit a home run, act like you’ve been there before.” Today’s ball players need to learn to respect the game. I’m a Cubs fan, but I hate the showboating you see from just about all the players in this generation. Give me the likes of Aaron, Mays, Williams, Mantle and Banks - guys who hit tons of home runs, ran the bases without pounding their chests, flipping their bats, or waving at God…. Let the home run speak for itself! Baseball doesn’t need the stupid celebrations soccer and hockey have on the rare occasion when someone scores a goal. Celebrations are for the fans in the stands, not the players on the field, unless you’ve won the pennant or World Series.

I bet Edmonds has no problem with Willy hitting a homer and basically walking around the bases.

Cardinals folks have won a couple of World Series championships in my lifetime, yet everyone has an elitist demeanor. They golf-clap at home games in high-leverage moments. Uptight. I know a guy who got kicked out because he refused to change his Joe Maddon “Try not to suck” t-shirt.

In case you ddn't notice, the game has changed but Edmonds was a showboat his entire career . An excited young kid celebrating his 2nd homer of the day shouldn't be chastised for his enthusiastic trip around the bases , it happens every day in baseball and Edmonds claimed he'd ne er seen anything like it before . Like Molina , Bader or Contreras never did anything like that ? Edmonds has always been a jerk . Some things never change !

Morel batting avg 202 according Cubs website so Edmonds was kind to him.

Edmonds is forgetting a very big point to a celebration...whether at home or away, the fans want to be entertained and teams and the MLB want more fans because it provides revenue by increased attendance. Whether baseball or football, fans that enjoy the game more will attend more.

Morel has less cred to hotdog because of all his strikeouts and rollover ground balls in key situations. Don't think he's showing anyone up, he plays the game with great joy.
At the same time, always nice to see Cardinals butthurt.
