Question: If I have a dual mono plugin, but the L and R are still linked, is that the same as stereo?

Exactly what I was looking for! Are you 'sending' the source track to the matrix by adjusting its individual send control, or assigning the source track's output to the aux buss EQ effect? I'm guessing you could also use a multiband EQ to do this by switching in/out different bands. The default settings for a multiband compressor might also work, so am looking fwd to trying each. Great content and kindest thanks for your tip! Subscribed.

This is a great tutorial about a great technique...had to check out the ProTools EQ III manual to see what was meant by dual mono....after reading all the replies below, many describing the same initial reactions I had to seeing the approach explained(watched it a couple times, took some notes and am about 85% clear on what's going on),what I think would really be a big help not just for myself but for the benefit of others who find this and want to understand things, would be if some of the people who've posted below would post again describing how they did this in their own DAW,what they used, whether they used the "filter matrix" for reverb as shown or...

Dual mono and focusing eq send! Thanks, David for this knowledge. Simply as usual, but covered like a old carpet. )

Bravo! Great tip, inspiring. Curious to see if I can recreate it in Ableton Live - I'm not sure whether I'll get the stock reverb to become true dual mono though.. to be explored. Thanks again
