I know I’m replying to these after the fact but I don’t care. Tom welling and Michael Rosenbaum will always be the best Clark Kent /lex Luthor. This show gave them so many layers and they played it beautifully. I wish there had been a smallville Superman movie but honestly them becoming who they became was a far more interesting story and we got to see it every week so thx guys!

Brandon truly embodies the Clark Kent/Superman character. His natural mannerisms are spot on. And Michael is the best Lex Luthor ever. He embodied the vulnerability, the loneliness, the rage the intelligence and the ruthlessness of the character

I love how Rosenbaum goes further and, to paraphrase, he just basically goes "Hey man, you were both young, maybe there WERE some subconscious feelings, but then we did the thing, we all grew up, and years later you meet again at a con and it's water under the bridge, it's just naturally run it's course and you're just like Hey Man, what's up!"

He always keeps stuff so grounded while his celebrity guests naturally try to be careful and political with what they say and how they say it, to prevent a PR disaster with cancel culture, but Rosenbaum just cuts through it all and gets to the realness of it while still keeping it super wholesome... like when Welling was talking about filming the scenes with Kristen while she was being extra seductive, and Welling was being very coy and polite describing his experience, but Rosenbaum just came out and said what all of us were thinking... "Kristen is one of the most beautiful women in the world, and MAN... when I did those type of scenes with her it was just wow..." lol

You can tell it comes from a place of complete respect and as a friend, since he's still friends with Kristen, but if any straight man was friends with Kristen and had to do scenes alongside her while she acted extra saucy, we would all, any of us, get at least a little bit weak in the knees...

Routh was a great Superman. Tom Welling was technically never Superman, he was Clark Kent. He could not even fly until the end of the series closer! I would have loved to see Smallville turn into a Superman series but from what I have read, Welling did not want to be Superman and did not even want to wear the suit on Smallville. The whole premise of Smallville to me at least was to show Superman before he was Superman, and Lex Luthor before he became his nemesis! Michael Rosenbaum was a GREAT Lex Luther by the way! I loved the entire series except I thought the action scenes were a bit watered down. I am guessing the show was primarily made to appeal to younger folks and I was 40 when it came out.

I feel like the obvious answer as to why Tom may have been cold to Brandon is that Tom was probably hurt that he wasn't considered for the role, especially considering how Christopher Reeve felt about Tom and earning his blessing to be the next Superman and how he was in the conversation until Singer wanted to cast an unknown.

I love both Brandon and Tom.

i loved Smallville... certain spots, but Welling had his thoughts on wearing the suit. that's his choice being the main character. but nothing should be said about Brandon playing the role no one else could... i like his portrayal, sorry the writers sucked... but was redeemed during the WB Crises...

I have all 10 seasons of Smallville on DVD and even I can still admit that Brandon Routh ACTUALLY played Superman and Tom Welling wouldn’t even put on the full Superman suit
