Absolutely ridiculous. Yet if she was a different color she would've been offered citizenship without even asking!!

Why still got an Italian passport if she wanted to be British citizen? You just have to do the process Lady even if you have to appeal as a last resort. Your British husband should have helped you with your citizenship a long time ago. I am a naturalized citizen by marriage to a British and he did most of the paperwork. You don’t become British without the necessary papers.

This is what happened to WindRush people and children. Some had grand children and great grandchildren n owned their own house but returned to Jamaica. Imagine they came here on a British passport. Theresa may shredded their documents.
I don’t keep all but some of my papers, you never know when they are going to come in handy. Don’t dispose of your old documents photocopy and keep them.

My wife nearly had this . Dutch and over 50 years. English child , husband , house and U.K. business. We got a bad time. Eventually applied under Windrush and got it. Even saw MP. Truth is we’re not wanted here. We feel insecure. My dad was an immigrant doctor to the NHS in 1950 ……he would only get in on a tarif now without family, or , worse. A Dutch mum with right to stay and a Brit hubby was told at Dover the 11 year old could not come in! It was sorted. A retired Dutch midwife married to a Brit who died just after Brexit was told she may not get her widows pension (wrong of course) but letter/s put through letterbox telling her Brexit was one and she should go home. She did. Sadly black people are used to chants of go home ……I can go on. The political language is designed to stir up the racists and the extreme right. Now we want to ignore international law and avoid the human rights act. Even legislate that is Parliament says Rwanda is safe , then it is and the court cannot gainsay that. Effectively saying if we say 2+2= 5 ! What does the language remind you off ……think history.

This is a perfect example of not understanding UK residency and Citizenship laws! It’s very sad, however this lady is to all intents and purposes an Italian citizen. Her children are eligible to British and Italian citizenship. How many times has her Italian passport been renewed? Being married to a British citizen doesn’t give you any rights to British citizenship nor having children born here afford you the same rights. I hope she has managed to get this sorted?

But you still need to sort out documentation which says you’re permanent residence in UK
My son is the same an Italian citizen but I never assumed that it is going to be automatic he gets permanent residency in the UK even though I his mother is British citizen
I still get his documentation as permanent residence. And is a very simple process you just have to do it especially after the Brexit this is a big question to most EU living in the UK 😅

The problem is, prior to brexit, the UK was part of the European Union, which allowed unrestricted freedom of movement of people within the EU to live and work in any EU country. There was no need or incentive for anyone to apply for British citizenship, as they had the unrestricted right to work and live in the UK, as long as they held citizenship of another EU country. That changed after brexit, as all EU passport holders were deemed foreigners, after a grace period. Those who did not apply for British citizenship before, had stringent criteria to meet, before being allowed to live and work in the UK or get British citizenship and unfortunately-- many people fell through the cracks. That is the tragedy of this woman who has an Italian passport and many other people.

It’s sad but you have to remember this, as long as you are not a citizen of a country, there are no guarantees, period. A person who is not a citizen of a country doesn’t have a human right to live in that country, no matter how many years they have spent inside that country or what they have done. Therefore it is in that persons interest to be up to date with immigration laws and know their immigrations status and actively try to get citizenship as soon as possible. I understand that she feels betrayed but its no one’s fault but her own. It’s not the governments job to remind people “hey time to renew your permit” or “hey time to claim citizenship” it is the individual’s responsibility, and if you are 18 or more you are responsible to make sure you have basic things such as your right to remain in the country in order, if you don’t do that that’s on you.

Jesus, the cross, Bible, Quran are all fake colonization tools made up by Martian aliens to colonize and slave Earth. They are not Earth-indigenous. That is why Jewishes created land conflicts and wars for thousands of years to steal land.
Holy Maria had no son or husband. Holy Maria is a real virgin throughout her life. Holy Maria’s three missions are: to help abandoned babies, help homeless kids, and help and prevent girls from suicide after their virginity is cheated or stolen.
Holy Maria had no church at her time. Churches and chapels are used in Holy Maria’s name to cheat the people, to fool them, and to gain rights and money.
In Latin America, the original apparitions of the Holy Mary do not include Jesus or the cross.
The law of Universe is each Soul takes own responsibility and karma. No karma transfer.

So sorry. This reminds me of those from the Windrush scandal, people from the Caribbean, invited to Uk to work after the war with promise of lifetime residency/citizenship. Many were subsequently told the same thing you were: not qualified to be in the UK. The Home Office had to be "shamed" internationally before they started to do the right thing. In the interim, many elders were deported after working and paying taxes and raising children in the UK. I am so sorry this happened to tyou and pray it gets resolved without more pain as this has to be extremely hurtful and I too am glad your Dad did not witness this sad occurrence. (I am a daughter of Belize, formerly British Honduras, residing in New York, USA)

You spent 55 years operating with an Italian passport. This situation is on you. I know people who are jumping thru the hoops in Canada. Canadas system is not a friendly one, these people come from small villages and they know better than you do. Your not a perm resident if your still using your Italian passport.

This is why I left after getting settled status. I don't have faith in my rights in the UK. The home office can lose the webpage my ss is on for whatever reason and I'm done, with no way of proving I was ever granted ss in the first place. As much as I miss the UK I don't want to live with that uncertainty.

Always stay on top of your paperwork and never just assume everything is going to be okay.
