Mario should speak more often and have actual voiced cutscenes in 3D Mario games from now on. Mario Sunshine is OK in that regard, Breath of the Wild is really good for that too. The bad part is Mario in Sunshine's cutscenes had about two lines in the whole game at the very start: he comments on the airstrip paint pool and then says he'll need to find a job, presumably cleaning the island before he's even arrested. Kinojii (Toadsworth) even responds to him by asking if he's trying to start a new career. Said lines are also very quiet so it's easy to miss them. They are also cut completely in some versions of the game.

What is the point of Nintendo even hiring Charles to voice Mario if they're just going to make him mostly a mute?
