My favorite time seeing this was on laserdisc at a Sears department store on one of those new fancy surround sound stereos that they set up as a home theater. Since it had a remote. I kept the dialogue quiet and turned up the rain. So i could hear those low end thumps of T Rex walking. And since they are whispering. It just sets it up for loud you can get this. Like, talk about the quiet before the storm. And then ya got to have it full blast when it finally gets out and screams. Pretty sure i got to the part where it attacks the kids before someone came over and was all like, just what the hell do you think you are doing kid?

I much prefer this scene in the movie to the novel since Malcom and Grant are actually trying to help. In the book, the kids' car is torn to shreds with Malcom and Grant paralyzed in fear, and they assume both have died already. Malcolm bolts when the T-rex turns to face their car, and Grant survives more by luck than anything.

This movie was so awesomely iconic and terrifying. I saw it in theaters when I was 6 years old and my mom had to take me out of the theater during this scene. What an incredible experience. Movies are soft AF now. Sad that kids will never experience the movie magic of the 80s and 90s. They don’t even know what they’re missing.

What makes this movie intriguing than jurrasic world is that it wasn’t some hyper intelligent hybrid killing machine like the I-Rex (still cool). It was just a T-Rex trying to figure out the modern world. It just makes the movie more intense and realistic.
