Sony ZV-1 II - Worth $899?

Bro, the focal length issue that the MK1 had was fixed by the Ulanzi lens adapter which gave us 18mm. #2 the onboard mike on both the mk1 and mk2 although good, will always need an upgrade and hardly anyone used the onboard. Mostly like myself use the rode wireless go2 and the Deity Mic Duo if i want to have omnidirectional recording. The touchscreen is perhaps better here on the mk2 but not enough for me to justify a swap for the mk2. Just my take

At $899, id just go with the zv1-e10 and use all my a7r4 lenses with it

Nice review, I just subbed. I bought the ZV-1 shortly after it came out. Nice quality imagery but what slays me about the camera is the horrible battery life. It seems I can't film anything without the battery dying on me. And that's using Sony batteries. Don't even try using third-party batteries since they are far worse. Has the battery life improved at all with the Mark II?

Those missing features are very disappointing. Time to look at another brand. Damn. I really like the ZV.

Good one saved me some money on this as I was eager to get the ZV-1 Mark II but after this video I felt the Sony ZV-1 is just going to be fine for vlogs.

Don't forget you can use Catalyst Browse or Gyroflow with the ZV1. It's an extra step, but you can put your video through it and use the gyro data to stabilize without the crop of active stabilization (AS has to be off when filming).

Way overpriced for what you get.

Does the audio record when you zoom in or when the auto focus is working?

How does it handle with video recording in the heat for long periods? Example I have the RX100 7 which has the high heat mode. That has never overheated even in high external ambient temps. Does this hang with the RX100 😊

This ain't for someone who is making pretty good use of mark 1. But for starters this is better.! Price drop will be insane from year now. I can see this at $699 and black friday would $599! That would be no brainer for this. It will age well ! Mark 3 the one HOPEFULLY with 4k60, s-cinetone, 10- bit. More improve mic and lens.! Looks tad bit diff., Although these two hardly look any different to me in videos!

ZV-1 mark1 doesn't record 120p videos, only 100p.

It is overpriced by $100-150 because in some ways it even downgrades from the mark 1 which came out 3 years ago.

Why ZV-1 Mark II 20 megapixels is more expensive than

You can get a Nikon Z30 (infinitely better camera) with the new 12-28 VR powerzoom for just a bit more than this price or the very good kit lens for less (Z30 is basically a Z50 without viewfinder and a bargain). This camera is now grossly overpriced (ZV1 mk1 owner). I did a comparison image quality ZV1 vs Z30 and there’s no comparison, also with useability, menus and even built in mic on Z30 is much better.

Personally I think the DJI Action 3 suits me a bit better as an option to a full size camera

All one has to do is put a stick on the ZV-1 and you are good to go, it's a better camera than the Mark2, except for the mic, but who uses the on-camera mic?

not worth it for $899..if you want longer lens on the original ZV1, just buy the extention lens for $50...that's all you need

The image is great... but the stabilization is horrible. I have the Zv1, rx100M1, M2, M4, M5.

Deal breaker. I'm so frustrated because people don't tolerate shaky footage anymore.

Do not forget the x2 zoom in mark 2!! Sony Zv-1 mark 1 has more zoom 3x zoom!!! This camera should cost less than $600. The only upgrade is the 18mm but with the sacrifice of 70mm against 50mm. In many cases i use 70mm. So i couldn't lose the 70mm to buy 50mm. In other words skip both cameras and buy the sony zv-E10 with a sigma lens 24-70 mm f2.8 of $1100.

Your videos are super helpful and I know you love the camera and have ordered (which makes me want to upgrade from my mark 1) but everyone else seems to be complaining about the lens not having in built stabilisation and a few other missing features. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this is you wouldn’t mind sharing 😊

Thank you for your videos. We have bought our set up your product recommendations because we are completely clueless. Question: We opted for the RX100VII. We bought the small rig. The DJI mic does not fit as it is too small for the rig. How can we make the DJI mic fit to the small rig? We received everything in the mail yesterday, even the Ulanzi tripod and are very excited to hook it all together.

Wanted the 10 bit color. That was the deal breaker for me. Sony gives us the 10 bit!!

This camera in my opinion should not be more expensive like $500 because honestly you get way better for results using your iPhone or your Samsung, convenience is King, plus the dynamic range in iPhone or Samsung kill this camera so baddd😢😢😢😢😢

For me ZV-1 Mark 1 is much better, because of low light capabilities and wider aperture.

If ZV-1 Mark 2 have a 10Bit 422 and 60FPS at 4K - it will be a better choice.

What makes it better than, say an iphone 14 pro? I like that camera but it’s hard to justify…i don’t like the front camera of my iphone 14 but i usually flip the phone when needed. Maybe the fact that it’s standalone, and that it’s a little better video quality makes it worth it!

Sorry but a wider lens but lost of stabilization and drop in aperture is a non-starter. Keeping my ZV-1 until the ZV-2 (maybe).
