Ok, as a huge Hans Zimmer fan I'm just going to throw this out to the world and see if anybody agrees. Probably going to get some hate for this but here goes. Opinion: Hans Zimmer's music has dropped off compared to his older stuff. I'm not saying he's a poor composer, not by a country mile, but his recent music sounds...uninspired. If you take a listen to the original scores for "Crimson Tide", "The Thin Red Line", "Lion King", "The Prince of Egypt", Pirates of the Caribbean", "Spirit", "Rainman" etc., they have a quality of melody that's almost entirely missing from his more modern scores. The "Batman", "Interstellar", "Inception", "Rush", "Batman vs Superman" et al. have moody, dramatic chord progressions but little material that could be called thematic. Sure, it's distinguishable once you've heard it a few times but to the average person the Batman suite sounds pretty much like Rush (Lost but Won). I've noticed John Williams seems to be following this trend as well. John's 80's and 90's stuff is memorable, sometimes all that's needed to have it stuck in your head all day is three or four opening notes but his more recent stuff is kind of blah. Anyone else agree? Perhaps it's just me?
For the record, I enjoy listening to this song (why I'm here) but it is a good representation of what I'm ranting about. Several chords, slowly increasing in intensity, add more instruments, choir perhaps, continue building, little moments of tension, now resolution but never blossom into something that can be called a true theme. Sure it fits the movie (I guess) but can we really call it great music?

I love Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy. But I still think Tim Burton's Batman was way better. Michael Keaton fits the Batman role perfectly

I dont like a DC movies much and I am a big marvel fan but still i think The dark knight trilogy are the best super hero movies ever made.

This is my favourite score of The Dark Knight, and not just The Dark Knight, the whole Dark Knight Trilogy. This score is very beautiful, sad, motivational, sinister, tragic, hopeful all at once. This score is enough to describe everything that is going on in the movie, whilst wrapping everything up. A hint of the Joker's theme at the end shows that he hasn't lost... it's not a happy ending, it gives something much, much more... I come back to this score nearly every day to once again play this beautiful music in my ears, leaving me lost in thoughts, leaving me questioning my own life, and whether I can be better...

This score is a masterpiece, This movie is a masterpiece, This trilogy is a masterpiece.
