2. Be ready to accept what you cannot change: You can't change your spouse, but you can change yourself.

3. Express affection and appreciation daily.

4. Commit yourself to a lasting relationship: Never insinuate separation in marriage. Never use separation as a threat. There's nothing two people cannot solve if they are determined. Don't make jokes about separation or divorce.

5. Commit yourself to God with all your heart.
