This is why I'm terrified of using a GC. I enjoying doing my own when I was capable and don't look forward to the GC experience after I've heard so many horror stories from almost everyone. Doing my own work seems easier than coddling and cajoling a builder.

We are hoping to go to contract soon with our selected builder. Your "Don't bring in another builder" is well taken, however, I intend to have 1) A real estate agent or attorney to assist with contract and other types consumer related advice. 2) Just as important, I plan to hire a building inspector. Our lot is located in an unincorporated rural area once part of a farm, and it is very unlikely that a bank or loan will be needed. I would like your thoughts and feedback from a builder's point of view and how best to incorporate my team with the builder. Thanks!
