Review: The Pilgrim's Progress, Bedford, Bedfordshire, England: August 2023 (A JD Wetherspoon Hotel) - https://youtu.be/2GoGL_La1ow .

The Pilgrim's Progress is a JD wetherspoon Pub and Hotel located centrally in the market town of Bedford. It is close to multi-storey paid car-parking and the River Great Ouse.

I stayed at this hotel for one night in August 2023, two of us stayed in a double room on a room-only basis, which cost £76.50 booked with booking.com. Our room (306) was on the top floor in the eves / old attic of the building, which was quite cosy from an aesthetic standpoint.

The bedroom was of a good quality as Wetherspoon hotels usually are, the bed was comfortable but only a double bed sized and not a king-sized bed, the room had tea and coffee making facilities and an open wardrobe. The bathroom was nely refurbished with a wetroom style floor and a nice shower cubicle rather than a difficult shower over a bath.

The room was comfortable enough for one night, however it was quite noisy, the road outside was busy and there was an ongoing theme of 'boy racers' revving their engines as they noisily drove through the town.

We were rudely awoken by the fire alarm in the hotel, it turned out that the idiots in the room opposite had been somking in their room. The wetherspoon staff knew which room had activated the alarm and immediately evicted them, giving them 10 minutes to pack their bags and leave - bravo to them for not being shrinking violets and doing that.

All in all this was a decent value hotel, but I think in all honesty if I was staying in Bedford again, that I would look at other accommodation options.
