Meta Quest 3 for Sim Racing: Good, Bad & Mind-Blowing!

Great video, straight to the point. I've got a quest 2 and I'm partly considering upgrading. Do you use a link cable or wireless for steamvr content? I noticed that I got a lot of random disconnects using the link cable on a quest 2 which was very annoying

I have a 4070 super paired with a 58003d. I'm currently using a quest 1 with link. Should I expect better performance with the Quest 3? Is it more efficient?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but Meta don't "enable" 120hz in the sim, it's already on in the Quest 3 if you've ticked the option in the settings menu. But whether or not a sim uses 120hz is up to the developer, they have to enable it within their sim, not Meta or Steam.

Would have enjoyed hearing your review but the background audio is a smidge too loud and drowns you out at several points.

Just tried to test Project Cars 2 and AC... I get really bad shimmering on objects. I'm using a 3060ti, and I've tried to max out settings (just to see if I can make those go away with anti aliasing and super sampling.) I can't make it look very good. Any idea why? I'm using the official link cable and have the bandwidth at 500.

G2 vs Q3 for Assetto Corsa ? I have a G2 and Q2 will Q3 will be a real upgrade ? App to photon latency seems quite large in your videos 45-55 ms.

There is also another bad issue. The wi-fi has a bug in it causing bad stutter/latency issues. Using it with Virtual Desktop from your pc you can see the networking problems. Ive been monitoring the Meta forums for a while now and really Meta haven't got a bloody clue how to fix this. Apparently it was a similar issue with the Meta Quest Pro headset. There are quiet a few people with this issue, so I'm stunned why Meta haven't taken this issue more seriously. When people open their Q3 on Xmas morning, I reckon this issue might become a lot more complained about. I've gone through 3 routers now and spent twice the amount I wanted and still its not fixed. The new v60 update made things worse too. The only thing I do know is, if your gonna using VD and your pc for PCVR gaming, shut down any apps in windows that aren't necessary. Especially a VPN if you use one. This can cause even more issues. Over two months now of this issue and now feeling I wIsh I'd gotten a different headset.

Does anyone know if the Quest 3 uses the same Link Cable as the Quest 2?

Thank you! All I do is sim racing and have been using the HP Reverb G2. After a year or so of “fairly” consistent performance, the G2 is in the finicky cable mode, making it a crapshoot as to whether I’ll be racing or troubleshooting for the evening. So looking for a replacement as I’m on my 3rd cable and not buying another (if I can…hard to find original HP replacements). So this looks like the way I’ll go with the Q3.

You can set it to 120HZ via Side Quest. You will have to reset it again every time you restart the headset.

Is render resolution 2720*2944 enough for the headset?

I ordered, and canceled today, a Big screen Beyond headset. A lot of great features on the Beyond, but having to use an iPhone for the face scan, and measuring your own ipd are quite frustrating. I canceled as I decided to wait for an all around better headset to come out. Plus I decided to keep the $1000 for that future headset if that elusive perfect model comes out.

thing is, from what i read and see via through the lense videos: the lenses are so clear, that even tho the resolution got improved, the screendoor effect is far worse then on the quest 2.

i tried it aswell for SimRacing 2 weeks ago, and even tho and obvious it was linked with a cable, the battery just drained way to fast, which was a real bummer and i wont recommend it just because of that for simracing
