Pack a small foil emergency blanket.
ОтветитьLoved the journey thank you bud
ОтветитьOMG I stayed in that hostel for several days - I recognised the Forecasting Stone! I have lots of photos, that's Berneray? That's the white beach I was talking about in my other comment, where I was literally on the beach and my trousers were flapping so much cos it was 30-40mph winds. The ruined other houses were fascinating - are they still there?
They are super strict about Sunday observance on Harris and Lewis - bar service stations, EVERYTHING is closed. People joke about padlocked swings and parks - I've seen that. The locals even really scowl at you if you aren't going to church - I hiked on a Sunday, the B&B was not happy with that. Agree about modd - I had good weather in Lewis, but in Harris it rained non-stop, so have less than great memories of there. Weather is so changeable in the highlands - in Skye it rotated every 30 mins!
I've hiked around Harris and Lewis, although I used B&Bs back then (and when I was on Skye and the Western Isles I mostly statyed in hostels cos although it was September it was manic for midges. I need ti go back and camp. I have walked that endless causeway, LOL but I was coming the other direction and it was chucking it down. I found a dead dolphin and those bones on beaches there - they are remote. When I was there it was blowing 40mphs, it was crazy, white beaches, sunshine, looked amazing but you were getting sandblasted! Also that store/Post Office was closed when I went in the 00's, the hostel is near there.
ОтветитьI've really enjoyed watching another of your great videos Liam, thanks again. 😊
ОтветитьBeen watching your channel a while now Liam. This one is awesome. Well done. 10/10
ОтветитьI grew up in the Outer Hebrides, you really don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone!
ОтветитьThank you for the spectacular views. Felt so sorry for you when you had no dry sleeping bag for the night. Glad you had some blessed moments too. 😊⛰️
ОтветитьExcellent content as per usual. 😊👏
ОтветитьLoved your video! I had no idea this area was so pristine. You'll probably get a ton of suggestions, so may I add mine please? try a sea to summit Ultra-sil Dry bag, 35l to keep your sleeping bag and clothes dry. T They are super light, and waterproof. And maybe an emergency bivy bag. These are usually on the mandatory kit list for most ultra trails.
ОтветитьWhen I went to Stornoway, there was an unlocked house that visitors could stay in with a jar to leave a contribution. I think it even had cornflakes stocked. Ask the locals and they'll tell you if it's still there. Lovely people there, don't suffer in a damp tent
ОтветитьHi, i'm from France and i just want to tell you that you make me want to explore Scotland. Beaches are so incredible : watercolors, white sand...

ОтветитьSheep don't Neigh, they Oink😅 This is a great video. Your narration is quite good too.
The remote football field is just like the remote cricket field in the Valley of Rocks in North Devon.
Thanks for this video btw. Im going to Stornoway in September.
Visually stunning. Can't wait to smell it.
Magical
ОтветитьLiam, I really enjoyed that mate . You've captured the Islands wonderfully.
ОтветитьWOW ,epic, awesome, amazing, fantastic, breathtaking ,stunning, sublime and so so so relaxing all from the comfort of my armchair. THANX BROTHERX
ОтветитьNothing like a trip there.
ОтветитьI get something of the spirit of Thoreau from this
ОтветитьIf you ever go back to Harris, the beach to visit is down that road next to the bus shelter where you were chilling in the sun: Luskentyre estuary - Losgaintir. Spectacular sands overlooking Taransay. Many years ago I spent several months living in the bothy by little loch Fincastle, next to the turning to Losgaintir. Also - the "house in the absolute middle of nowhere" is Horsacleit. I also had the good fortune to stay there on another occasion. Great to see the place again. Thanks for all your hard work!
ОтветитьThe fuse board in the hut probably just needed switching on to give you power Liam
Ответитьthat is a route I would love to do someday, thanks for this Liam, great stuff

ОтветитьCouldn't believe how beautiful the O/H were....even in November! The light...the colours...the remoteness...and the people, make it one of the most beautiful places i have ever been. Hushinish and Seilebost were definitely our favourites of all the beaches we visited. Perfect video to show how stunning this place really is.
Ответить''civies pay thousands for this shit''
ОтветитьAmazing video. Everything about the journey is extraordinary
ОтветитьWhere do you get drinking water while walking? Did you ever see any other campers/hikers on this remote walk?
Ответитьrandom question...........that bothy at 37 mins............why would they go to the length of artexing the ceiling?...(i know random question, but had to ask!)

ОтветитьHey Liam I'm heading here next week. But I'm taking my van to then walk parts of the outer Hebredes due to knee injury. Can I ask which ferry you got from where to start where you started in the video ?
