TNG Bridge NIGHT SHIFT Ambience *8 HOURS* (Star Trek Sleep Sounds)

My dad and I watched Star Trek together, I remember the OG on the old black and white tv when I was tiny. Dad was really excited when NG came out, we never missed an episode. He’s in the hospital now on hospice care waiting to be beamed up to journey the stars…Tomorrow I’m driving with my husband and fellow crew mate with his broken wrist to see Dad. So many worries, but tonight I’m safe and comforted on the Enterprise, Picard has the night crew keeping watch, sleep is my only mission. Thank you for this respite. Engage.

If I worked on the Enterprise I would get fired for always falling asleep at work. This knocked me right out

I am trying to become content with the fact i will die sad and alone. I struggle with undiagnosed OCD and I'm having trouble managing my suicidal thoughts. I would never do it, the greif and hassle it would cause those around me is enough to ward me off. But even still, I think about it.

How come nothing ever happened in the middle of the night watch?

People like to talk about the Sovereign Class Enterprise-E all the time, or the Defiant, or that silly Prometheus class or any of the newer ships of the line. The Galaxy Class Enterprise-D will always be my second home, and my choice of ship to command...She was the incarnation of what the Federation and Starfleet stood for.

I've always thought having Enterprise background sounds in my home would be so comforting.

I can now ‘engage’ in sleep.

Sigh - someone from that show really should have consulted with a member of the Navy about how ships actually run - an officer, NCO or even a plain seaman. Ships are not factories and there's no such thing as a "night shift" in a ship. Ships have to run 24/7 and thus must have at least a quarter of the crew on duty at all times to keep her going. There are seven watches - not bloody shifts - in a day, most four hours long. You can't have the crew running things for longer - it's too exhausting. They system of watches used in the Navy today has been used for at least four hundred years, and guaranteed it will be still be in use for the next four hundred - so long as there are ships that need to be manned.

Incidentally, there are three watches that run during the night:
First Watch - 2000 to midnight
Middle Watch - midnight to 0400
Morning Watch - 0400 to 0800

The Enterprise D bridge set is one of the greatest examples of futurist design ever created. To me it still looks like the future I want to live in.

if repetitive sounds trigger or annoy you, there's a subtle sequence of 6 tones/bells that are continuously cycling in the background. I finally had to turn it off. Otherwise, this is enjoyable.

Seeing the deck empty makes me think somethings wrong on the enterprise (again)
