I subscribed three videos ago. I love your explanations, and the field trips that we get to go on without having to hike or get hot in the sun. I feel as though I am taking college courses which are 100 times better than the ones that I took in college. Thank you so much. I’ve always loved geology and driving through the Colorado and Utah mountains. I always wonder what caused the things that I am seeing. And now I realize that I can watch your videos and learn so much as I sew.
ОтветитьYou should apply at PBS. My kids need to learn. Schools don't do the job.
ОтветитьWhere did all the water go from this inland sea? Ice age freeze? What froze all the water into glaciers so fast? Was it snow or fast freeze? So many questions
ОтветитьGreat way of explaining and teaching, thank you! I wanna learn it all!
ОтветитьThank you bought back memories of my geologyfield trip on the San Mateo /Santa Cruz coastal plains. And my recent fustration when trying to explain to a friend why building dams causes the beaches on the ocean to recede and the resoviors to silt up.
ОтветитьNah. There's the continental divide. Nope, that misinformation.
ОтветитьVraiment très intéressant 👍
ОтветитьHello! We live on the 3rd (((ROCK))) from the sun. And in school they teach you about 5 different oceans buts there's only one ocean. The planet goes through a seasons also the plant will be very hot, dry, it will rain a tone and flood the earth. This is what this episode is about. The continents are not sliding/ shifting. Water is rising, freezing and water is drying up
ОтветитьThanks for another great video. Wow, Wyoming is amazing for geology. I took a geology course out of Casper College many moons ago. We went out into some of the same areas that are in your videos.
ОтветитьFantastic video. I really enjoy your fun yet clear method of conveying complex information for the lay man. Reminds me of my most favorite teachers who were so enthused about chemistry, physics and engineering. Just subscribed in look forward to learning more geology.
ОтветитьDiagolon?
ОтветитьDeposits from Noah's flood not an old ocean. Mainstream always lies about everything.
ОтветитьMr. Cook, thank you for bringing to light a quandary in my mind that I’ve had for a long time. I’ve wondered did that ancient seaway really exist and how can it be proven fact or fiction. I’m finally a believer! Oh, how wonderful it would be to walk out there and find ancient oyster fossils. Thank you.
ОтветитьThank you. I love geology. I read somewhere that Oregon use to be underwater for some time
ОтветитьI love that area, I use hike that area along the Dirty Devil River and get the best petrified wood. Also, the whole State of Utah used to be a lake.
ОтветитьVery interesting subject and channel. Despite the fictitious timeline's being promoted which Myron backs up with "Circular Reasoning" starting at the 19 min mark.
ОтветитьThis guy fucks.
ОтветитьLook all you left us. I know it’s hard for you to believe but the planet actually changes not everything remains exactly the same and not everything has a damn thing to do with humans. Try to wrap your tiny little brains around that maybe just maybe you will gain some actual intelligence and not indoctrination.
ОтветитьI absolutely love your systematic presentation of observations and hypothesis leading to educated conclusions regarding the geology and geography of these regions. I have extensively explored the Mancos and the overlying Dakota Sandstone (what it is called here in AZ) that make up the westernmost edge of this Cretaceous seaway. It is MUCH less prominent here than it is in Utah or Colorado/Wyoming, but it is nonetheless fascinating. The map you showed at the beginning of the video is also one of the few that I have seen that include Eastern AZ as containing part of the seaway.
Please keep up the great video presentations.
Mount Garfield Grand junction Colorado
ОтветитьLOL it might be that huge whale body in the rock.
ОтветитьWell, it's most likely one of the pathways taken by water during the Great Flood of Noah's day. It's also related to how the Grand Canyon was formed. Immense river/water flows, on a global scale. Fits logically and consistently with the flood. I know you're approaching it through the theory of uniformitarianism.......which is up to you Myron, of course. But, that's still a great insight, and a great find. Even though we probably disagree on dates and times, your information and knowledge is fascinating. Thank you.
ОтветитьI moved to Utah in 2006 from NY. I have children in Colorado who I visit twice a year. We drive up through Helper to I-70 on to Colorado Springs. Those mase's which I've seen over 30 time have always intrigued me. Thanks for sharing your knowledge in such a interesting way.
ОтветитьMyron is the best! With all the crazy nonsense on the internet this guy's videos are a so refreshing. Such fascinating information about the landscapes we live in and pass through without thinking, delivered in a calm but intruiging manner by such a wonderful person. Had I seen these videos when I was young I would have definitely pursued a career in geology but I am so happy that I can still enjoy learning though I am nearing retirement.
Thanks Myron!
This ocean that used to be there, I see Texas underwater. I’m thinking, “ since Texas used to be underwater it could end up at the bottom of these ocean one some day.” I used to think, if there ever was a giant wave hitting the gulf coast that we would be fine, too far from the coast. But now that Texas used to be underwater it can very well end up at the bottom of the ocean one day. I need to move to the mountains, just to be sure we won’t end up at the bottom of the sea once again.
ОтветитьTerrific series; never disappoints! Thank you!
ОтветитьLove your videos! Geology is so fascinating! Now the nickel dropped, and I instantly understood why that area of Utah is called Capitol REEF... 😆
ОтветитьMyron really did cook (I loved the video)
Ответитьwill the seaway reappear?
ОтветитьCapitol Reef is my favorite Utah Park! This video makes me really want to go back! Thanks!
ОтветитьMyron - This is the stuff that did (and still does) fascinate me and why I became a geologist 40 years ago. Never seems to get old... Great job !
ОтветитьI’m in Platte County, Missouri, where we have the ocean floor fossils. We must have been right beside the coast that cut through western Missouri.
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьAnyone who has driven from the midwest to the rockies knows they are driving along the bottom of the sea.
Ответитьthat shale place looks like a giant skid mark on the land scape
ОтветитьThe great flood
ОтветитьOn the hilltops in the forests outside Payson, Arizona I found a very large amount of fossilized ancient sea life eroding out of the ground. To think that even the hilltops of the high country in Northern AZ was once the bottom of a water way is really something. I looked up into the sky and imagined ancient creatures swimming around in water.
ОтветитьThe Factory Butte drone footage is amazing looks unreal, so incredible Myron.
ОтветитьThe great aulacogen !!!!
ОтветитьI work in the oilfield in midland tx in the permian basin. I'd be interested in a video explaining the areas geology. Pretty sure the oilfield here is based on this seaway
ОтветитьHe’s like a geological Bob Ross becoming one with the painting and explaining how it was created.
ОтветитьWhen Myron says "this will be fun!" You know, fun is to be had.
ОтветитьWhen I pump up my sump. It is Grey.
ОтветитьI live in North Eastern MT, I have found fossilized seashells in the dirt. I live next to Ft. Peck reservoir which looks like the dam you’re at.
Ответитьnicely done again.....That Forland Basin you describe is a great correlation point for the rocky mtns. formation. what does the east side look like cretaceous to eocene.
Ответитьi know of one lake that probably has very little mud. check out lake optima near hardesty, oklahoma. i don't think it ever got enough water flowing in to bring in much in the way of mud. it also never did fill up much at all.
ОтветитьYet another geologist saying "we know the age of the ash, rocks, ETC" without explaining HOW that is. Don't believe the "millions of years" bull sh*t. The oyster shells were a pretty good clue you ignored here. It is impossible to date rocks and rock layers. IMPOSSIBLE. Carbon 14 dating is fairly accurate on organic materials up to only 600,000 years. Anyway, there exists continental movement and upheaval in mega-earthquake/tsunami events we have not seen yet but we will. That seaway will return (to a lesser extent) in the next one. Many psychics have seen this including myself. Now you've read the truth. Do what you will with it.
ОтветитьIn missouri its easy, just look at fossils ...we find crinoids, shark teeth etc....😅
ОтветитьI instantly perked up when you said lovell, worked on a ranch in Cody for a bit there. The place is absolutely beautiful
