What I want to know is if there is any special dialog for the last one when you visit your parents

Why can't you hire more than eight people on a ship?
When you have a huge, luxurious ship, it looks like it's empty when you only have eight employees.

I see a companion named Charlotte in a whole bunch of people's videos and I've played over a thousand hours and have never met that companion .

The worse with starfield is ALL the 1911 missing the safety spring .
That would make your 1911 single shot in the best case and, could in the worse case, disassemble the gun when you fire...

Betty is great to have if you want to go blow stuff up. She has the best lines...and doesn't care what you do
But for a list like this, i would also include ALL the named companions, as there are some really good ones that you do find in bars if you want to pad out your ship and your outposts with named characters rather than the non-name NPCs.
No name NPC's disappear if you no longer have room for them on your ship, which really sucks...if you steal a ship that has smaller crew levels than the one where a bunch of no-name NPC's are assigned, they just vanish. You cannot reassign them at all. Whereas all named NPC's will just go to their assigned starting point if they get bumped off their assigned station for any reason.
So if you want to fill your ship with crew that isn't the same old constellation members, who all complain whenever you do something even slightly offensive, use named NPCs vs the no-name crew.
Just for their interactions, and in some cases for their skills, i like having Marika Boros, Rosie Tannehill and Ezekiel around for their interactions. Omari Hassan gives a nice boost to your ship's shields and Andromeda Kepler is good to have for an outpost as well.
Fun fact, if you have Rafael Aguerro on your ship, and you run into the rock collecting lady in space, there's a nice unique dialog that happens when he hears her on the radio.

I found one of the legendary ships but I was stood low level and left the system. Once I upgraded my ship and tried to return it wouldn't show me the mission in the star map, even when I located the system on my own and Grav jumped to it the ship was gone. The quest is just in my log and it drives me nuts.

Just looking at the list, I don't see Rafael Aguerro. This is from the quest where there is a research disaster and you switch back and forth between two universes. Rafael is the only survivor in one of the universes. If you choose to save that universe and allow the 30-some people in the other universe to die, you can pick him up. I don't remember the name or location of the quest.

Go and find a film called Wing commander, I believe caribdice is a nod to the film

If you don't complete the free star ranger quest a.d the crimson fleet quest Mathis amd Emma Willcox will follow you around and kill everything g for you. They are good as a distraction for killing terromorphs.

Starseed is totally broken. Everything I try it the noc all aggro and it can't be completed.

If you spawn yourself as a companion, is it you as you currently look? Can you then change your looks and have that companion look like your old self? Since this is the first time I'm hearing this I would hope that the new you companion doesn't change looks with you.

For all of you bothered about "skills" - main reason why you bring a companion with you... I did some 7 NG+. now, after I learned some things, I started a NEW, ground zero, new game ( NOT a NG+ !) ;
The thing is to invest from start in botany and zoo, then build chem factories - that is CREDITS & skills points factory. Forget minerals - the mineral extractors are bugged as hell for now ( wait for a fixing patch...) and build green houses and animal farms.
Start with AMP who will give you 100k/batch, right on start, using Jemison as base ( all ingredients are there ) - each batch you made will give you 1-2 skill points.
After you made your first million and reached lvl 20-30, keep investing on the zoo / biology, and build chemistry skill tree - now you can start building farms for Bandages ( Ursa), Antibiotic ( Copernicus) and Heal Paste ( moon of Akika) - mixing those 3 will give you top grade chems, worth 450 creds / unit, at only 1/10 kg ! Put points on commercial skills, and now you can make a batch of 1-2 MILLIONS worth ( 5-10 000 units, 500-1000 tones cargo ! ) AND the skill points will rain at 3-7 skill points / batch.
I am lvl 78 at the start of the game, after only 8h... AND with 2.5 millions in reserve, and a tanky Frontier build worth 250k...

Your definition of "secret" is hilarious, considering most of them are pretty obvious and asking your character to join...

Raphael is the absolutely worst companion! He has crazy attachment issues.

Its been my experience that most constellation companions suck at combat.

Last I heard it, it was pronounced "Kah-RIB-diss", but it's an ancient Greek name for a monster, so I expect the ancient Greeks had their own pronunciation. Thanks for the vid -- I like having all the companion choices. Cheers!

it's it funny how these new games all seem to work enough to make a cute little video but if you invest real time into them they crumble and break revealing they are actually unplayable? lost over 3 hundred hours of game play and ship builds because the game just forgot they were ever there and I guess I'm a little salty bout it.

I liked getting Rafael but not because he's particularly great or anything, I just didn't see it coming

you left out marika boros, who you find at the viewport in new atlantis. she will join your ship crew, but she will also be your companion. her voice and dialogue make her fun to have around, whereas most of the others are boring. then again, she's not actually a secret. she's sitting at the bar, waiting for you.

Btw, NG+ is rolled based on outcomes from practically every quest you've done, saved as bits, which then form a string to rng from; a who is where, what is, and isn't, and even changes to wording in logs. So the more you do in a single playtgrough, the more variations exist. - but that said, get to a point in a playthrough where you feel like you've done enough and then NG+ to refresh. Theres no rush though.

I didn't know you could spawn yourself as a companion with console commands. Now I'm wondering if I could just literally create my own crew by spawning them with the console, then go to enhance and change my character, then spawn another, then change again and so on. I'm interested to know if the companion changes if you change your character at enhance or if they stay the same

i don't lke mathis, he's annoying so i totally roast on him and tell delgado how he's a lazy bum and he gets kicked out of the crimson fleet and shows up in space to try and kill you, its pretty funny..i complains about how you got him kicked out of the crimson fleet.

Now, about Erick von Price, since both his skills are super useful, and the quest to get him on your crew is simple, he is a must.
But, you can finish that quest by saving him and return the ship and get him on you crew all in a same run, it need some old school paper and pencil RPG thinking: you tell those Mercs that you only care about Eric and they can have the ship, you untie Eric and ask him to shut up and hurry up into your ship, once you see Eric enter your ship's docking port, kill all Mercs. Return to Mars, as if you didn't get the ship. Talk to the shopkeeper who gives you the quest, tell her you saved Eric and her ship. then you SPEED running back to your ship, you will see Eric walking from behind your ship towards Mars city, talk to him, he will join you for free, because you're so sleek, he wants to learn from you.
