The intro price is 7500 in today's money - and that's without the second external floppy 400kb drive (which you NEEDED). It wasn't a practical platform until the 512/fat-mac came out - or the 800kb drive equipped Mac Plus years later (and you still needed a second drive unless you liked wearing out your wrist swapping between OS and program disks). But at least the Plus had SCSI so you could get a HD without major case-cracking. Of course I got the Mac Plus with a student discount - I was doing postscript graphics.

*Imo the NeXTstation was what you consider 'today's' Apple. A variant of that OS is running on all of their systems since the merger. Nice thing too - because I got one of those also (much cheaper than a Mac II FX - including a laser printer at less than half the cost of the LaserWriters of the day). Still own it in fact.
