Some bands had to pay to get on the ozz fest

Been to one of the very early shows, I guess "pre-Ozzfest", back in Pennsylvania in September of 1996. The concert was just Ozzy, Danzig, and Sepultura. Those shows may have just been a test run, IDK, because the small venue wasn't even half full?

Going to Ozzfest 2003 was my high school graduation present. I went again in 2004 then stopped. Went to Warped Tour 05, 06, and 07. Had fun at all of them.

I lost my wallet at Ozzfest 99 and took some purple window pane . Forgot all about that wallet .

Went to ozzfest at alpine valley, wi every summer from 02-05. All were fantastic, got to see so many amazing bands.

Ozzfest 2001 was very important to me and a friend of mine. We had a blast and discovered a lot of new bands that went on to become very big.

I saw Ozzfest in 1998 (I think that was the right year) in Camden NJ. I saw Slipnot, Primus, and a whole boat load of bands that day. But, of course, Ozzy was the highlight. I remember my feet hurt from walking back and forth to the main stage and the side stage, but it was worth it. I didn't miss a thing. Great experience! I will never forget it!

My 1st OzzFest was in 1999 at Alpine Valley, WI - I just turned 16 a week before & got tickets as a birthday gift. I got to see Slipknot perform like 5 days after their S/T album was released. My friends and I got to OzzFest early & people were talking about "this crazy band with like 12 members & they all wear halloween masks". Well the 2nd stage was the only stage open until about 4pm & Slipknot came on at like 2 or 3, played their set & people were actually pumped up.
I got to meet Corey, Sid, Paul (RIP), Joey (RIP) and Chris & they were all really nice, I bought the CD & the shirt (they had a combo sale) and they signed everything. I got to hang out with Sid and Joey for about 45mins & Sid introduced me to jungle & drum n bass music - I had heard music like that at raves but never knew the genre names, and Sid actually gave me & a few other kids a crash course on DJing at their merch tent - he had a few roadies set up his decks and we all took turns scratching & mixing jungle records on his headphones.
It's things like that which make people like me lifelong diehard fans!

Ozzfest in early 2000s was like metal summer camp. So glad I got to do that

OzzFest was Amazing, Glad we got to live it! Same with Rock on the Range. RotR was one of the 1st weekend fests back during the world's loudest month.

Went to several Ozzfests, discovered several up and coming bands, also got to see classic bands.
Where else could you see Slipknot, Rob Zombie and Trivium on second stage, amongst others!?! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I went to Ozzfest 2001, 2002, and 2003; these 3 concerts remain highlights of my concert-going experience overall.

dont forget bands are making less and less from record sales... short of concerts and a bit of merch, .... its shrinking. And to throw a headliner like Glenn Danzig under the bus? F Sharon... scammer... why would he ever play that venue again.... Shame, but I suspect this is AS MUCH to do with Sharon making it about the money as the bands were.... we're not talking about bands that were all looking for publicity and would play for nothing.... bands that were established as were doing Sharon as much a favor as she thought she was doing for them.... lots of bands to play ozzfest can fill an arena without sharon gouging them... so I call bullS on this one.

Even though Ozzy couldn't perform or travel with the show I'd still love for it to come back. Have the first year back with all bands from the first 2 or 3 maybe some appearances from the man but just a message on screen to have a good time would be enough. I hate how much concerts are costing now so get the bands to just do it free(many would) making the tickets easy for fans to afford. And don't go to Tinley Park IL . Pick a different venue lol

AI has clearly explained that large corporate festivals only work in Europe these days. In USA you've got to implement the DIY approach and create one yourself with other local/regional bands on a personal level. Think Ren Faire.

I never really understood how anyone could stand going to a music festival. The music sounds like shit, the weather rarely cooperates, and the amount of money you need to spend to attend is extortionate.

Complain about managers. Scam artists complaining about people wising up to their scams and playing the victim.

They still did Ozzfest in Japan after that. It was two days long. They started that back in 2012 I think. I only went to one Ozzfest in the US back in 03 in CA. I went to Ozzfest every year when it came to Japan. After that Knotfest started up. They would change it up. One year Ozzfest and the next is Knotfest. They also have another fest called Loud Park. They get all kinds of bands to play it.

Sad to see it end.

Hhahaha - literally LOL'd for the first 5 secs of the video...Chad would be proud! We did watch their 1st podcast with some history behind their show and their TV series!
