Separating the roots was a little painful for me, although I’ve heard that can stimulate growth.
ОтветитьHey ...so I'm dealing with sort of a problem I was hoping you could help me out with... the middle of one of my sansevieria leaves is completely black but other parts of the leaf looks good AND I wasn't sure what to do about it, should I just propagate or leave it alone ?
ОтветитьMy Sansevierias have been flopping and turned yellow and I thought it was caused by owerwatering. Today I noticed scales on the leaves! 😱 Found your video at the right time and I'm going to give them a good scrub with soap shortly! 😅 I'll also try propagating some leaf cuttings so that I'll get some pure green ones. Thank you! 👍
Ответитьhi Sean, thanks for showing how to get rid of scales. can you share link to your shop for your insecticide soap? also wondering do you ship to Malaysia or Singapore?
For me sansevierias are arid plants there supposed to be dry all the time so I suggest the medium must be easily drain the best mixture to use is lots of pumice loam soil and more rice hull thats it... no need to use aroid mixtures which contains coco cubes and husk this mix priducea mealy bugs and aphids in the soil using this mixture will take the potting mix stay wet for a long period of time. That causes of pests...
ОтветитьI have 5 ft tall snakes in full peat moss in my home. I water them like once every couple of months.
ОтветитьI NEVER water my snake plants daily. They are desert plants from Africa, so I water every 2 to 4 weeks after the soil is completely dry. This is why the very tall leaves, almost 3 feet high, NEVER droop.
ОтветитьWoah. Just touching those bugs. The name "scale" just freaks me out.
Ответитьew, humans!
ОтветитьYes!! The root porn is quite gratifying.
ОтветитьThanks for sharing ❤
ОтветитьHi Sean, you are so helpful, I love your videos ❤️
ОтветитьNice video! Thanks for sharing your plants. The long green ones aren't trifasciata, its actually very hard to distinguish the long greens unless you saw them bloom. Most of them can only be id when you have a clear inflorescence(flower bloom). Could be metallica, longiflora or aubrytiana.
ОтветитьOverwatering made some leaves withered.
ОтветитьWhat kind of bar of soap did you use? Was it a normal normal hand soap? Or a specific product? Also after you washed the soap off wouldn't the scales go back in the soil and climb back up?
ОтветитьMy snakeplant was in terracotta pot n i watered it every 15 days.
2 leaves turned yellow from bottom and dried off. Checked its roots n its orange/brown but dry and brittle.
I changed it to normal nursery pot n watered it. What could be the cause and should i do anything else?
Also I had it by a north facing window on a shelf
Thanks for update video
Nice 👍
Why does my sansevieria have brown tips also how often water?
ОтветитьYou can use fish emulsion , if you are not using that..to promote growth...ND there one thing you have to give these guys it's native setup that is....jangle below the larger tree that contains rotting leaves ND other material
ОтветитьThe reason they are falling over mainly because it’s another varsity of sansevieria called sansevieria aubrytiana or jaboa!
Ответитьsoaprecipe please!
ОтветитьDefinitely satisfying! I love doing that! Haha! And oh yes, I love their orange roots, too! <3
ОтветитьHow to fix a sansevieria moonshine that has fungus?
ОтветитьIt was difficult to watch until the sword thing 🤣
ОтветитьOh my God!!! my snake plant has that too....what king of soap your using?
ОтветитьHey there, buddy! So, I guess you already know, but here, in Brazil, we call them swords: 'St. George's sword' - for the trifasc. and 'St. Barbara's sword' - for the varieg. And old ppl used to say that you need to have at least one pot with both of them, close to the main doors, to keep away bad spirits and mean ppl. Tc.
ОтветитьI think they flop over because of too much sun exposure. I think there is a thin film that is enamel like on the outside of the leaves. (this enamel gives the leaves its strength to stand up) If there is too much sun, then this film melts/dissolves and can no longer stand up straight. I can't remember where I heard this from, but possible solution for ya
Ответитьthe green and tall one is Aubrytiana a.k.a Jiboa/Jaboa/Jiboya. The leaves flop over because it is too tall and the plant has been underwatered before. Systemic pesticide is the way to go if you can't get rid of the mealy bugs
ОтветитьHello. I’m new to the plant world about 2 weeks in and am learning a lot. I have a pothos that was in a 6” pot that was badly root bounded where there were about 2 inches of soil on the top and nothing below that but kind of thick roots wrapped tightly around and long. I tried repotting into an 8” pot and then realized I may need to repot it into a bigger size? Do I need to trim the roots? If I add the cuttings that are rooted, do I need to cut the roots that were root bounded to make room for the new roots from the cuttings to establish? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences.
ОтветитьGreat video Sean! My snake plants are also struggling because of the bery humid weather here in Vietnam. I never water them but they still get root rot. 😅
Also, I love your sense of humour and funny captions. Keep posting amazing content.
Like a sword ,, shiuu shiuu.. that's cute :) very pleasant video
ОтветитьPropagation via cuttings and root division is SOOOOO satisfying for me 😍😍😍
Ответитьthank you for the video kak sean, now I can help my mom sansevieria forest 😂. Can I propagate from the bulb (bonggol)? or should I leave it alone?
ОтветитьWhat a great video!! Lol it was strangely satisfying when you were dividing it up lol
ОтветитьДоброго дня💐 какие шикарные сансы😍👍просто загляденье. 😍👍
ОтветитьSansevierias are succulents, they need very little water. If yours are out in the rain, you probably never need to water them, the yellowing leaves are due to overwatering. Mine are indoors and only are watered every 2 or 3 weeks.
ОтветитьPeace Lily Care Tips please! Never seen you make a proper video about them or show them in your vid. Need their suitable potting mix, light, watering when we keeping them indoor and outdoor🥺 I will be very happy if you ever did a vid about them. Also I really want to see your Peace Lily collection!😍
ОтветитьYour micans though!!! 😍
ОтветитьI"m so terrified of killing my sansevierias that I very rarely water them unless they are bone dry, then they get a soaking and nothing more until dry again. I've lost a couple in the past, including a lovely Moonshine, just by overwatering. My tall ones are fine but if leaning a bit, they have a bamboo cane for support (not tied up in a bunch . . . ! ) I love how you can grow everything outside, so envious! Given how fast they grow for you, I'd probably have ditched the bendy yellow leaves, especially with scale. You're very kind to them :-) Beautiful!
ОтветитьI really love that you give updates over several months. It's so helpful to know whether the techniques actually work in the end. As always, I loved the video!
ОтветитьI think you must put them in full sun..
Ответитьi Havent read all the comments, but i think the reason the little pup is white is simply just because it was still in the soil so it didnt get any sun :) hope youre doing well <3
ОтветитьSince the soap has pesticide, should you wear gloves?
ОтветитьWhere do you sell your soap online?
ОтветитьTheir roots are orange. They flops over sometimes without an explanation for it. I just brought one it growing straight up but bottom leaves are growing in a boomerang shape.😀 Happy Growing and stay safe.
ОтветитьYour calaboration with @ leafing around was sooo funny well done would love to see another one in the future. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and experience with plants.😃
