Design Matters at Beijing Design Week 2014

The Australian Embassy in Beijing organised a small delegation of Australian design industry professionals to attend the 2014 Beijing Design Week to encourage greater Australia-China design and architecture industry links.

Beijing Design Week debuted in 2011 as a citywide showcase, catalyst and laboratory for raising public design infrastructure and discourse in Beijing, and China. The program has rapidly grown into the leading platform for design in China.

We caught up with Michael Growder, Counsellor Public Affairs and Culture, Australian Embassy in Beijing, Vittorio Sun Qun, Deputy Director for BJDW and Winnie Gao, Director of International Projects, BJDW. We learnt about the platform as a way to engage with the international design community in China and opportunities available for Australian designers to be involved in the next Design Week.
