Yamaha DX7 - 80’s Hits, a-ha Take On Me, Europe The Final Countdown, Mr Mister, Berlin, Madonna

This was used by Axel Beritung of Silent Circle in their original video for 'Touch In The Night'. ;-)

This demos are very cool but your mid-highs frequencies some times are too bright and almost painful to listen. For real. Not all songs of course, but the Howard Jones and Madonna songs especially. Mr.Mister, Pink Floyd`, Berlin' songs are wonderfully done and mixed.

The original recording of Broken Wings has this one weird, out key bass note. I'm glad you didn't play it that way. lol

Sorry mate but the selection of mostly mainstream tracks don't do justice to this powerful synth.
There was Brian Eno who programmed his own sounds. And then Level 42, Patrice Rushen, Jimmy Jam, Terry Riley etc who got the funky and uniquely percussive character out of the DX7.
The 32 presets were nice in the beginning but they got rinsed out way too much.

Ive got the little DX reface and one of the sounds is identical to the Kate Bush song Running up that hill.Surely the original DX has got to be the keyboad she used for that sound surley ? Its amazing to hear what 80s musical history actually came out of that keyboard.

I managed to find a DX7S in amazing condition for £120 and now I can't stop bragging about it 😆

Aha used a prophet 5 and the Dx7 did good in place of the Oberheim for Berlin's take my breath away

FM is my least favorite synthesis, but these patches are fantastic.

The DX7 was crazy complicated and illogical to program, and the keyboard keys are slightly narrower than a standard piano, so a 10th can be stretched more easily….Great synth action ! I could never afford one…had a DX21 instead which was crap!
