Very interesting. Your attitude is that of a truly civilized gentleman. Very refreshing. It sounds like you've been working for the same kind of business my daughter and son-in-law own. She's the CEO and he's the Creative Director.
ОтветитьAnd don't buy cheap Chinese brands/fashion brand watches. (unless you truly love it I suppose) .. the acception is if you buy a few cheaps in various sizes and styles to find what style and size watches fit for YOU and then give them away to kids teens when your done✔️😁🍻
ОтветитьThe ripely Watch is the most extravagant you’ll go? That’s pretty out there...I mean it’s no reggae style invicta but still 🤣🤣
ОтветитьAs someone who recently resurrected their love for watches and collecting them, your advice in this video is excellent.
ОтветитьThat’s a really sharp shirt.
ОтветитьHa! Saving up for a Rolex Explorer, who told you that? Lol
Thanks for making my day!
Regards
John
I wear a watch for a day or two and change it for another,I believe one should wear all your watches otherwise get rid,so I find 25 watches is all I can cope with,I wish I could get down to less but I love them all, bronze Steinhart is my last I’m 68!
ОтветитьI used to be into guns. Now, since watching your channel im getting into watches. I got a skx013. I love it... Thanx... Keep up the good work
ОтветитьJust personally, I can't have a collection so large that most of my watches sit around unused most of the time but more power to you. Just a few very different looks for different situations is quite sufficient for me. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
ОтветитьI have worn watches on and off my whole life my father wore one every day he loved seiko but I recently got in to automatics I just got a tissot seastar 1000 but I like the divers field and aviator watches but what I really love is the mechanics behind the movements of the automatic and manual wind watches thank you for what you do love this chanel can anyone recommend a place i can have a seiko quartz watch fixed it is pretty old it belonged to my father before he passed the second hand moves but the minute and hour hands do not
ОтветитьI see dimensions on watches, but I often find the most important measurement, how well it keeps time, is missing. What determines the accuracy of an automatic or manual? (Yes I know they are not as accurate as a quartz, but still)
Ответитьnew to wathes, thinking of getting Tissot Visodate.
ОтветитьI love how you praise other channels here!
ОтветитьI'm amazed at the amo uh nt of knowledge you are sharing with us. I'm thrilled each time to view your posts.
Thank you.
I wear a g shock to work and have seasonal watches ie i wear dive wstches in warm months for casual/home
ОтветитьBuy what you like is good advice. It’s much better to get a compliment on your own personal style versus what you think people should like.
ОтветитьGreat video! Some of this advice is kind of like life lessons. Keep killing the game!
ОтветитьI have always been a one watch guy -- my last three as I recall were a Timex, then a Victorinox, then the Seiko Caliber 7T94 that I treated as a too-nice beater/work watch for some years until I had to retire it (broke the crystal).
Around that time I started binge watching your channel. First I bought an F-91W, then a Duro, then before I noticed that my collection was choosing its own theme, a G-Shock DW5600E-1V. So evidently my beginner collection is centering around the brand Casio. Especially so, since my next watch is going to be a EQS500DB-1A1 Solar Chronograph.
What a neat little set of watches, and I owe you a thank-you for turning me on to each of them. The next phase of my career as a watch enthusiast, I think I'd like to focus on the Dan Henry brand. What a stunning line of watches he is offering!
Lockdown brought me to this channel and mate you're doing a banger of a job. Directing the youth towards a more intricate hobby. Cheers
ОтветитьFantastic watch- Steinhart ocean.
Ответитьthe inappropriate analogy he was going to make... a new girl, or sex perhaps ;)
ОтветитьIn my opinion , get what you like. 2 watch collection or 20 ,make a plan of what you want or just buy as they come. Just definitely stay within your budget of course. 80% of my watches are under $150 . I have a few beaters but for the most part I match my watch to what I wear. My collection leans towards race heritage.
ОтветитьVery complete video. I have a lot watches in my target, but, when I do research, the number of the targets tends to decrease.
ОтветитьI just started collecting an I'm waiting for my second watch to come in the mail a citizen navihawk. My watch now is a galaxy watch 3 now.
ОтветитьI’m in the “I wear a specific/ required watch for work, then change to whatever I like” category. As a healthcare provider I need an Apple Watch to be able to receive notifications and pages from within the facility while I’m with a patient as it is rude to be on your phone while interacting with them.
ОтветитьEnjoy your informative videos they have stoked my fire within for a couple more watches. I’ve been interested in watchmaking forever. However I’m a woman who operates a cattle property in Australia, so I wear Timex military waterproof while working. Also Lorus sports military.
But I have Australian Adina dress and chronograph and hardy outdoor watches that I adore.
I have a fancy gemstone and shell dial Citizen eco chronograph for outings. A beautiful watch.
My first watch a vintage Renown. My Dads vintage Viceroy. An Anne Kline ll dress watch.
Just purchased a skeleton Swatch auto which is cool. (First Auto).
I bought a Timex compass for hiking. And my latest favourite is a Victorinox Maverick.
Around 18 watches for me and not one Seiko haha. Well maybe one day. I just mix them up to wear them as I feel for the day when not working. I’m very happy with my lot.
Using the dog walk for automatic watches, on the dog collar
ОтветитьHow many cliches can you cram into one video haha.
Ответитьyou know a fresh breath of air for me gets me away from the shitty world and tgv nice guy honest king a guy you can have as a good mate ,nothing over nausing
ОтветитьI not only change up my watch, but other accessories like my concealed carry weapons. So whatever I'm able to wear that day is what I wear. Everything matches ☺️
Ответитьthe last tip is so me 100%
ОтветитьYou bang on about being a gentleman yet promote a pastime as vulgar as watch collecting? Buy one good watch and devote the rest of those selfishly aimed funds to one of the many worthwhile charities desperately in need of support. And do you really need a ‘submariner’ if the closest it’s ever going to get wet is if you forget to remove it before a bath?
Yes that Cartier is beautiful.
Best advise on a watch purchase is wait; I waited 6+ months to upgrade from a Casio to a Vostok; even after wanting it for 6 months I was worried I wouldn’t like it as much as I could have. Half a year later it may be the best purchase I’ve ever made
ОтветитьHey TGV I have over 80 watches.
Some of them are in use but some I bought just for design and I have fun just watching at them. I know this is crazy but that's who I'm.
Have a beater/ beater...watch for your all day...and a royals collection...too from time to time switch to a new beater...have the rich enjoyment of watches... designed too be worn...
ОтветитьMy Seiko SPB143 is my fav watch I sleep with it often because I forget it’s even on
ОтветитьI have no rules at all when it comes to what I want to wear. My go-to watch is a 43mm bluesy Sub homage which is a style chameleon. It's nice and sporty for casual situations but the gold accents also make it suitable for more formal situations as well.
When it comes to the style of watch that I like, I DEFINITELY have a type. I love dive watches but I'm very particular about them. They must have unidirectional rotating bezels with a strong preference for ceramic bezel inserts, sapphire crystals, have dial diameters between 43 and 47mm, exhibition case backs and metal bracelets. I have a strong preference for 316L stainless steel because I don't believe that titanium or platinum are worth the extra cost and having more gold than just accents isn't durable enough for a dive watch. I must admit though, I do adore the bluesy colour scheme. The gold and blue just play off of each other so beautifully!
One type of watch that, as a rule, I really don't like is the chronograph. I like clean dials and chronographs are the antithesis of that. Their dials are very busy and they just don't do it for me. I find that Citizen and Breitling are the worst offenders with the Blue Angels and Navitimers. There are some chronographs that I like such as the Top Time, Daytona, the Speedmaster Moon Watch and the Intra-Matic because, despite being chronographs, their dials are reasonably clean with little to no clutter like the Maritimer.
What really makes a watch special to me is how much I love how it looks and how great of a value it is, the specs for the price. I don't consider the Rolex Submariner to be a great value, even at the MSRP because any noob with money can get a Sub. It's a Rolex, everybody knows what it is and it requires zero research to know what it is. That's just boring. I would find a Longines HydroConquest to be far more interesting than any old Submariner.
My next watch purchase has already been decided and it will be a Tissot Seastar 2000. It has a 46.5mm ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel. a deep blue dial with engraved waves (just gorgeous), an ETA calibre that was modified by Tissot from 4hz to 3hz which gives it an 80hr power reserve (Powermatic 80) and an automatic helium escape valve (a la Sea Dweller) for an MSRP of only $1,375 CAD (although I've already seen it on sale for $1,167.90 CAD).
Now THAT is a purchase that I would TRULY be proud of!
I have a work watch (a solar Citizen chronograph). I change watches when I get home (atm it's a King Turtle Australia edition). I have a dinner/date watch (Seiko 60s Style with crocodile leather strap). I just bought a blue Captain Willard which I'll probably where in between the King Turtle at home during my days off. I'm only new to this watch thing. Needed a new watch at the beginniing of this year and it's escalated from there.
ОтветитьYou are a very crasmatic person. You make your videos so interesting its a pleasure watching them with all your enthusiasm.
Thank you.
Good advice. What do u think of sekaconda watches
Ответить"Wear what you dig."
ОтветитьGreat video tgv 👍 just saving for my grail seamaster that i will buy inn 2 months...your video give me a few new ideas 😉🙂best regards mate
ОтветитьI buy and wear whatever I like. My current favorite is a $240 homage of the Rolex Explorer. It’s the right size for my wrist, subtle, yet refined. The Rolex Explorer is my grail but I’m in no rush to buy one..
Ответитьoh i wanted to buy a vintage navitimer distressed, tropical dial that was soo beautiful. but i took my time. now it’s not available 😢
ОтветитьI wouldn't worry having money tied up in watches. You'll always find a buyer unless it's cheap battery powered tat. As long as you buy well within your limits you'll be fine. You may even find you get more than you paid. I can't think of many savings accounts that offer that these days.
ОтветитьHave money and time
ОтветитьI follow a Derek Sivers’ simple principle for purchasing anything: "Fuck yea! or no". If I feel just ok thinking about purchasing the thing that is a no. I don’t buy.
You end up having just a few things but you really love them.
