This scene expresses so much in under 5 minutes. Here Tony is, easily the most well dressed but is easily the weakest in the room in terms of power. He’s a street thug that made it to a top position and the men in the room know it. Hence the glares they give Tony after he shakes their hands. The expression on Tony’s face when the camera pans back to him and Sosa on the couch says a lot. He knows this is BIG time shit. To kill a ground breaking journalists that could expose both US and Bolivian politicians in front of the UN there was no way he’d get away with it. I think here he realizes he’s not really on top, he’s just another assassin like he was at the beginning of the movie which I think leads to him to a state of despair which we see in the restaurant scene afterwards.

Everyone talks about the characters and dialogue, but that’s maybe half the story of this scene. You’ve got the set, which is like a South American antebellum mansion. Then you have DePalma’s direction. The pan around Tony to include to include Alberto the “disposal man” is sheer brilliance. DePalma includes as many as he can in the shot to show the pressure being put on Tony.

You Got it All Wrong did you see the american guy he is propably cia he is their main man in washington or pointman of the cia he could have easily killed the opposition politician journalist or anti drug crusader he can easily take the hitman around without informing tony.. and there are alot of killers under the disposal of the cia they dont need tony… THEY CALLED TONY From AMERICA AND TASK HIM WITH THESE DELICATE JOB CAUSE TONY IS MORE TRUSTED THAN THE CIA TONY BRINGS IN THE MONEY REMEMBER TONY IS HEAD OF THE BOLIVIAN PIPELINE TONY BRINGS IN ALL THE MONEY And they thought Tony was Loyal To The Group as their Co Equal its like the Five Families of the Mafia and the Commission You Must Support Each Other and Fight a War against Outsiders.. But Sadly Tony Fucks It all he wasted His Worth and Thats His Tragic End Business is Business Nothing Personal But He Fuck it all Remember they gave Their King Tony Of Usa No Jail Time Cia Would Fix His Problem But He Threw the Game The Last Winning Shot His Contract Tragically End This is the Real Story.😂😂😂

And Remember the Bolivians are not in Control of The Usa Market Its The Colombians with the Mexicans Tony Is Cuban and In Bed With The Bolivians Tony Is The Cash He is Bigger in Power compare to all Of Them He Has America But Tony Fuck It all and all of them Lost Big Money!

The Bolivian drug lord Alejandro "Alex" Sosa… was actually based on real life Bolivian drug lord Roberto Suárez Gómez (January 8, 1932 – July 20, 2000).
Roberto Gómez was known as the King of Cocaine.

Wouldn't this plan make things worse for them!? Think about it! This journalist was threatening to expose these high profile criminal figures and he suddenly gets assassinated? The general public isn't stupid. They'll know it wasn't a coincidence. Which could, in turn. Bring even more heat and suspicion down upon them.

As the camera zooms in, the menacing looks in their eyes really make this scene very intense. They want this man dead.

Tony is slumped back in the chair looking like he's watching a football game. LOL

On another note, I wish that we would have heard more of the conversation between the journalist and the reporter. When the reporter said, "discussing it openly," that left the scene feeling a little empty and unfinished (but that's just me).

Even the way Sosa introduced everyone is a slight giveaway….” tony, this is Pedro Quinn- president of sugar corporation. Edward, this is Tony Montana.

General Edward Straussen- Commander of the first army corp- this is Tony Montana.

Just Tony Montana. Not Tony Montana of Montana realty company or any further description. Basically just saying here, lemme introduce the guy who’s gonna take the hit for our problems
