Did I Just Trade My Lexus for a Hyundai Genesis

I had Mercedes Benz and BMW 7.50 and benz 350 E class!! Genesis 2020 g90 is far better and less expensive to maintain!!! 2020 genesis g90 is great car!! Get yourself one you won’t be disappointed!! 5.0 v8 500 horse power what else can you ask for!! Not a race car, but it’s a beautiful luxury car with lots of features and power

I just bought a genesis 2020 v8 5.0 really good and nice smooth ride, but I’m still loving my 3.8 genesis sedan!! I’m keeping it hasn’t given me any problems!! Great luxury car for less money!!! Except 2020 5.0 I think it’s pricey, but all good cars ❤❤❤

Love genesis I have 2012 has 200 thousand miles and no engine check just get regular oil change every 3 or 4 thousand miles!! Still running strong

I had my 2013 Genesis 3.8 from 2016-2023. Traded it in for basically what I paid for it. Had no issues except the fact its a rear wheel heavy full size car which in winter is not ideal. If you live in a snowy environment I would suggest you look for something else. If not great car without any mechanical faults the life I had the car.

Genesis is still a young comer into the luxury segment. They’re ok. But their depreciation is huge! No one wants a genesis used! Only Genesis Hyundai is likely to buy it back with huge losses.

So, my son's has been nothing but issues..........2009 V6 from his grandfather with 66k miles, garage kept...has quit three times on him. always throws misfire codes, O2Sensor codes...replaced wiring, computer, 4 O2 sensors (I'm done there) some cylinders....now dealer wants to replace TPMS, O2 sensor, and plugs....so I am trying to get them to diagnose the catalytic converter and they just want me to pay for a new one.....at my wits end! Help Scotty!

I have a 2010 Hyundai Genesis sedan 3.8 V6. I love it. Best car I’ve owned and had it for 2 years.

When you said to stay away from the older Genesis cars talking about 2009-11, they're truthfully not that bad at all. And yes, as long as it has less than 90k miles or whatever, they can be extremely dependable but I wouldn't go for any Genesis from 2012 onward.

Hey scotty i have 2013 genesis sedan v6 base model and the abs module is giving me trouble the dealership said it was gonna be $2000 for the part and $1000 for labor the brakes feel spongy only sometimes is there a cheaper route that I can go to fix this problem because honestly i dont have that kind of money thanks scotty

I have an exact same car and it’s still solid without any issues. Only 90,000 miles on it though. Wondering what kind of weather condition makes the leather crack like that. I live in California.

I’ve got 160,000 on my…it drive perfect… I also have a Lexus and a Toyota….they are all great cars… most of these cats have issues due to bad maintenance… EVEN LEXUS..!!!!

I own a 2013 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec. Bought it with 50,000 miles. It now has 295,000 miles on it. Regular maintenance and the only thing I've had to replace is the Alternator. The gears on my mirrors went out but I'll fix that soon enough. Best car I've ever owned and the leather is still in great condition.

Scotty, you said you dont need a V8. My 130K V8 Genesis doesnt have these problems...what it does have is 429hp. With 2 extra cylinders, cam lobes are used a lot less over that kind of mileage.

Scotty... is it an easy task to change out the AC/Heat air blender? My daughter's 2009 blender seems busted as one side blows hot/driver and the passenger/cool when the AC is on. Any advice?

Is Genesis Better Than Hyundai And Kia?

There are a few notes of special interest regarding the Hyundai Genesis. (1) Original owners were mostly lessors and usually (according to my multiple dealership contacts in California and Nevada) did not change their oil regularly — or otherwise! With all of the dirt and smoke from fires, etc., over the years, and even just plain wear and tear, this induced a lot of unnecessary cam lobe wear and scarring. When buying a used one with no service history, a warranty of some significance, like 5-years parts and labor, is really important. (2) There has been a TSB issued (technical service bulletin for the non-mechanics reading) about a software and sensor change for the 2012 Hyundai 3.8L DOHC GDI 333HP engine with 8-spd Shiftronic transmission that changed the transmission behavior. The original transmission programming resulted in harsh shift up and down, manual or fully automatic. The new software has this trans shifting smooth as… well, smooth. This from personal experience with my 2012 3.8L Sedan that just got the shift TSB fix a week ago. One more thing: (3) These cars are notorious for being difficult to gas up due to the delivery valves constant shutting off. This, of course, is from the fuel air canister being filled with fuel by people filling and then trying to "top off" the tank. If your audience has one (some) like that, replacing the canister is the fix.

I mean if it needs a cam, just put a cam in it. It could be the solenoid-oil--control to the VVT assembly. Lexus are made to be bullet proof. But, the Genesis is faster, and the 2022 Genesis G70 is really nice and fast. The 2022 IS350 F Sport AWD is really nice, but it just lacks the power and speed. That's the trade off: Faster Genesis, still nice VS. slower, really nice, durable. And durable is the thing. Reliability is linked to durability, esp. the way I drive.

So, I guess the answer is "no".
