Hell of chat between 3 very insightful WP gurus, right here! Great perspectives all around. Interested to see how this topic continues to evolve.

This was one of the most important videos I think I have seen in a long time. Beyond relevant, but also a discussion with points and counterpoints in a way that respects objectivity and the experiences each bring to the table. The lack of it in so many circles is one of the reasons I get so frustrated with WordPress development right now. This has been one of the few videos where it felt like a truly adult discussion about real issues, but also without bashing, or further exasperating those issues. To me, this video should actually be the first in a whole series of videos, because a single show does not give time to take in the content, percolate on it, come back and ask questions, propose ideas/solutions/opportunities, and then further discuss those in a more inclusive and productive environment. I really wish that this video was the beginning of a new channel that focusses just on this and the big picture of development today. In hindsight, I wish I could have watched it live, where I could have asked questions, but seeing this after the fact means it will be top priority if there are further videos regarding this.

Thank You for this video. Please consider the idea of it being a continuing series (at least). I will schedule it in, whether it be occasionally done, or more frequently. This is what I have been waiting for for what feels like a decade. Thank you all.

It’s like a walk down memory lane. I started using WP in 2009 and the first page buildery thing I used was Pagelines, just because it was what the agency I was working with at the time was using. It was so rudimentary that when I spotted Divi in 2016 I jumped on there. I am generally deep into CSS and recently found that moving to Bricks and using a CSS framework alleviated all the frictions and bottlenecks I was experiencing with Divi. I do hope that Elegant Themes ultimately pushes their builder in the same direction as Bricks as they have a knack of presenting functionality in a nice UI. There are hints they may do this with the recent addition of the Freeform stying where you can apply the selector tag, much in the same way we use the dynamic root selector in Bricks.

On Gutenburg. It would have been great if they had based all structural elements on div and all the semantic elements and build a very basis foundation on which all builders could port over to, on which they could have added all their own bells and whistles and UI. This would have tapped into better interoperability between all tools and more buy in for all the community.

Did they miss a trick here and is there still an opportunity to rectify this?

As a newbie... Bricks is much more user friendly... I even tried GP/GB ..and while I think it's great.. I think Gutenberg holds it back... Any issues I had without Came down to whether or not I should do something with GB or Gutenberg..or struggling to find where things are.

Gutenberg is failing at being "for millions"

If anything if you're a developer..once you get stuck with Gutenberg..you can figure it out..is newbies can't.
