The term "British raj" was not in use when Britain was in power in India. It seems to have been cooked up recently.
The entire history of Britain in the Indian subcontinent has mostly been censored, especially the genocide and murder that happened on an epic scale in the Bengal presidency states (modern UP, Bihar, Bengal)

Dr Tharoor should first look into the Islamazisation of Kerala and the subsequent communism like Bengal before passing comments on Democratic process. Bombay is still suffering from Madrassa education

As a (white) New Zealander who lives in the UK, I'm always shocked at how little Brits know about their colonial history. It's something so key to how the UK is what it is today - and how it got there. It absolutely should be taught more and the UK absolutely should apologise for the terrible things that were done to India.

Well, it's 2023, and India - united - is stronger than ever before, under impeccable leadership, and having overtaken the UK in global GDP rankings. There are at times dark chapters in history, but the people overcome it to emerge more victorious and glorious than ever. Jai Hind! I salute my people and my Indian ancestry ... for a more successful and brighter future to come!

we indians love blaming British for everything ...but Indians should compliment British raj for the astounding work there have done such as bridges, buildings ,monuments ,and administration system which is still the foundation of modern india and standing strong ...they gave us English and there was certain romantic eastern western mix in all this rule.. everything doesn't have to be about famine or massacre ..why cant we Indians just see the positive and move on... modern india is rotting with dirty politicians with no core values ...millions of money is going in pockets of dirty politicians ,police and even evil private corporations ...why doesn't Shashi ever blame the Indians ? because he is also of the same group ...his english itself is British English ...

Why no one talk about the caste system in India...
Yes British left the India with 17 percent literacy rate but what about the upper category of Hindu did to categories schedule caste / schedule tribe ( as they say lower and untouchables) for thousand years they are not allowed to study . Even my father told me how his teacher said to him why are you coming to school . You can't drink the water from the same well. I mean how can anyone do this to anyone for thousand years. I thought now things are changed but my teacher said that she did the good karma that's why she born in upper category ( as brahaman ) and people who do bad born in lower caste

The only Reason why i like Tharoor
Only Congress Leader,whom i proud

He shows Guts everytime to Colonizers cum Looters Society, what they Did.
Looters never be Praised and Karma is the thing everyone hav to face

Today,we (Rishi Sunak)Run ur Country, just compare ur ancestors doing (in India) with this Indian (by soul and culture).
Britishers will always be in Debt of Our Horrible Past and we pass this thought to our Next Generation,so that no other Idiot from west or anywhere, even thought this way.

If it weren't a 'european issue' hitler wouldn't have been famous, he would have been another colonial general, if non-european issues were as important as European the also Hitler would have been considered as just another colonial general 🙂

Amazing how we have found the british to blame for an imaginative numbe of oppression in 2023 while 90% of present GDP is owned by 7% of the population and 5% of the population are in 95% of the government bureaucracy LOL

The good minister (is he still one now? ) should also put a price on the spiritual robbery of the 85% indians through casteism and other forms of oppression. How about that?

Being Indian I am not champion of British Raj...If I compare British Raj to Muslims Raj in India ..I prefer to go with Britishers..In fact , they have done so damages to us . But they have done lot of good things to India ..They never played with our religious imotions ,never looted and destroyed temples. So upto certain extent I like British Raj...Shashi Tharoor is really a learned person but he never speaks about Muslims Raj in India.
