I think Clarkson's reasoning was somewhat like John Ruskin's opinion about Ruskin's view at Kirkby Lonsdale, he said it was the "Greatest view in England and therefore the world" and Clarkson's reasoning followed a similar train of thought discounting all other cars or nationalities. He is entertaining and something of a Samuel Johnson figure in that he is capable ofchanging his opinions and arguing a contrary one at the drop of a hat, but it is perhaps not objective journalism.

I played the arcade game of f355 challenge wirh 3 screens and it was a great expeience from Sega. I did own a honda S2000 and i thought it gave me a glimps of how a Ferrari would be.

GO ON the 355
I’ve shouted to the rooftops since the 90’s how pure these cars are- especially my non car loving mates… was fearful to drive one
If you could ever still find a track day with a 355- do it. She drives better than she looks

"Ever" is a bit of a long shot. That implies all of eternity. "Yet" would cover it more appropriately.

I don't know what it is I l love so much about the design. I love that overhang in the front. For me I compare this to the 1st gen Nsx with pop-ups. This car would make me feel like a Tom Selleck even though the cars are different. Red with tan seats would be my pick.

And I beg to differ. You are comparing apple to orange with a mid-engine vs front engine. F550 looks like an ordinary car with a front engine. However, with that being said, I'm glad you have a different opinion and I hope more would join your bandwagon and bring down the price for F355. So I can afford to buy one. LOL

Videos really don’t do the sound of this car justice! The noise is just phenomenal, not just one of the the most beautiful Ferrari’s but one of the best sounding as well.

The cambelt service by a good specialist is about £1500 , which isn’t that bad if you’re only doing it every 3-5 years(I’m sure anyone could put aside £25-£40 a month to cover the cambelt service)

Less driver aids means more driver engagement, which equals higher fun factor during the drive.
Take a manual shift; it's slower and the driver will make mistakes in getting the shifting right. But those mistakes are his, and he can work on improving his techniques and skills. And that adds to the level of engagement, enjoyment, and fun factor.

I kinda admire the Ferrari ethos- every bit of plastic trim or shroud is sacred, costly, and in demand- and eventually irreplaceable as it stops being manufactured and the old stock runs out. This is because they are Ferraris, a whole different universe of car as you say- but I think this should be applied to other modern classics too- well, hopefully not as costly, but bottom line as you've pointed out in your other videos, people treat older cars as more disposable and maintain them less well than they should!

A very rare technical glitch. I heard the technical glitches are not rare at all with Italian super cars. Come on who are you kidding. Arent the exhaust manifolds on those known to crack frequently? But god that motor revving out sounds perfect. Sounds like the opening scene in Canon Ball Run.

Is The Ferrari F355 Still The Greatest Car In The World.... Ever? NO, it is not! It is one of the best designs, beautiful engine, beautiful sound, fits (me) like a glove, great to drive....but there it ends.
Now they are getting old, be prepared for big trouble! It's just an expensive painting to look at, has nothing to do with quality.

Still one of the most beautiful cars they have made - definitely the most elegant of the last 30-40 years. No bad angle and perfect proportions. Wanted one when new and really do hope I can get one before the prices become impossible. Corsa on Crèma, Targa, Gated Manual … Bella !

The 355 is ultimate Ferrari, I prefer the spider with hood down you can hear the noise from the engine even more and most importantly unlike the coupe and GTS the butress doesn’t crack and need welding on a spider.

Now manual or F1, I prefer the F1 having driven both the F1 has faster gear changes unlike the manual and if you red line the F1 it changes gears itself. I know with Ferrari no longer making manuals has made Ferrari manual cars more sought after but I would still have a F1 gearbox

I had shut my laptop down before I went to bed last night, with this video half done, and saw the rest of it this morning, after my usual wake up, shower, and drinking my coffee, and, as much as I appreciate JM's narrative, it really hurt my ear. I checked and I had it at full volume on my laptop (which fortunately is not extremely loud at full volume), so I put it at 1/3rd of the max and problem solved. After hearing JM's verdict, I have regrets that I did not take the bold leap and get me a 355 when they were 15 years younger than today and one could still have them at $50k or less in the US. And although $50k today and in 2005 is apples to oranges, my regrets multiplies when I saw the performance of all my investments in a convenient page by Fidelity (both theirs and other investments of mine, retirement and not), and in a mildly lousy day, yesterday, they were off by almost exactly that same accursed, infernal $50k US. And since Jan 2022 I have seen far worse days than that, after 5 glorious years of 200 or so new records (in the markets as a whole!). I hope I am not boring the high school students in the audience, I did not write this for them, but for the adults in the room that can easily afford one of these (and that does NOT mean they should get one, don't get me wrong, EVEN if it is indeed the best whatever.)
