I believe the concept of "heaven" comes from the Himalayas and the mystics that have existed in the area of Nepal since before the time of Lao Tzu. Jesus "ascended into heaven" along the same path taken by many other practitioners of that time. The teaching of the Buddha goes hand in hand with the teachings of Christ. Things he likely learned between the ages of 12 and 30 and which are not included in the canonical text of the Catholic & Protestant bibles. "Heaven" has likely always referred to the mountains. Even in China, temples are built atop treacherous mountain peaks and are often given "heavenly" names.
