ОтветитьJust a small warning, while the Sony 70-200mm f/4 II (SEL70200G2) supports teleconverter, the first gen of this lens (SEL70200G) does NOT. It's important to point this out once Sony still officially sells both lenses (£1649 and £1055 respectively in the UK).
ОтветитьI think I found the perfect combination for myself and I can recommend it to anyone. Viltrox 20mm f2.8, Sony 28mm f2, Samyang 35mm f2.8, Samyang 45mm f1.8. With these lenses both my fiancé and I are covered for travel (two cameras). Two walk around lenses, one wide and one portrait.
ОтветитьJulia, a great list for sure. One additional thought for those interested in small primes, Sony 24mm, 40mm, 50mm lenses especially if you are also doing video. The Tamron primes you mentioned can make some noise when focusing.
Ответитьjulia you forget the best of all lenses to Sony, Samyang 35-150 F2.0-F2.8 must cheaper than tamron and much better also, and try also the 24-70 F2.8 from samyang you will be surprised, try also samyang, 45 mm and 75mm F1.8 cheaper and lightweight but amazing sharp since wide open F1.8
ОтветитьAny thoughts on the Tamron 18-300mm as a travel lens?
ОтветитьWhere your Sigma 24-70 f2.8 m ii lens review video?
ОтветитьPour le voyage et la randonnée : le Tamron 28-200 mm f2.8 - f.5.6 😊👍
ОтветитьA7riiia with 20-70 f4 G and a6700 with 70-350 G. Amazing combo for travel. 20mm to 525mm range
Ответить❤🇵🇰
ОтветитьNever mind the lenses (great content, by the way), but your hair looks amazing! Who's YOUR hair and makeup artist? 😆
ОтветитьCan you try review viltrox 75mm 1.2 and shoot in both full frame and crop sensor mode thanks
ОтветитьGreat list, Julia! I also have the Tamron 20mm f2.8, and I really enjoy using it for travel landscapes. My other favorite is the Tamron 28-200mm f2.8-5.6 as it's a superzoom. What's your favorite travel lens?
ОтветитьIf you want actual affordable lenses for travel, Tamron 28-200 (very underrated lens) and Tamron 17-28 or Sony 20 f1.8. I have the Tamron 28-200mm and Sony 20mm and have traveled to Patagonia and my usual lenses when exploring Alaska. Lightweight and doesn't take up much space when exploring.
ОтветитьCan you do a video on what Sony camera you think people should buy
ОтветитьJulia what about for Canon?
ОтветитьDid you say that the 20-70 f4 suffers from the same heavy vinetting as the 20-70 f4?
ОтветитьA super affordable but decent 20mm f2.8 from Viltrox is a good option if budget is an issue. Great for travel for the landscapes etc. The price to value proposition is fantastic. It isn't perfect, but for its cost, it is second to none. Approx 150$/£
Ответитьyesss bought the 24-50mm g for upcoming trip! Was doubting my choice a lot
ОтветитьMy travel kit is (APS-C)
A prime (currently choosing between between sigma 30 f1.4 and Sony 50mm f1.8 oss)
Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 (seriously the best lens on aps-c and stops me taking my ff and standard zoom everywhere)
Tamron 18-300mm (not perfect but so versatile)
Wide angle prime (currently deciding between the manual Samyang 12mm f2.0 and sigma f1.4 16mm)
(There may be better choices but these are the lenses I own when choosing options)
I also if I have room would sneak in my Samyang 75mm f1.8 for street photography because it’s just amazing on aps-c
Kinda surprised that Samyang f/1.8 primes didn’t even make the list. Any particular reason? The 24mm, 35mm and 75mm are all great for travel! Much lighter than the Sigma Contemporary series.
ОтветитьI do love the 24 mm tamron…
But while it’s not as flexible (semi macro is lovely on tamron), the size of the Samyang 35mm f2.8 cannot be beaten…
I don’t understand why people would buy a Sony camera and not buy a Sony lens.
ОтветитьYou forgot the Beast in this category the Sony 24 - 105 mm f4 🙈 I tested it on my holidays in the alps and it works awesome 💪🏼 my absolut travel lense
Ответитьsharing my travel setup , sigma 17mm f4 dg dn ,sony 40mm f2.5 and for portraits Sony 55mm f1.8. if i need that landscape compression i have the Sony 70-200mm f4 mkii with TC :)
ОтветитьThe Sony 35mm F1.8 has to be one of the best-balanced lenses they have! Price, performance, weight, brightness, etc. really hits a sweet spot for me. I have to say though - when travelling I often really like a superzoom. I still have the Sony 24-240mm which is very old and beat up, but I hear the Tamron 28-200 F2.8-F5.6 is awesome. Currently holding off because I am I hearing rumors of a Sony 24-200mm f/2.8-4.5 -which could also be a really compelling option. I will also say that one of my favorite lenses to travel with is the 100-400mm GM, more for going to remote places rather than cities.
ОтветитьAww..your looks.. 😩❤️
ОтветитьGreat list! The two Tammy zooms are just so good for travel. the weight to performance is so high, not to mention the cost. My G1 version of the 28-75 stays on my camera 90% of the time.. I do sneak in some GM glass some times but the added weight for the 70-200 2.8mii isn't normally worth it. An honorable mention that I boutght years ago when u did a street photography vid is the Sony 28mm 2.0.. its small and light and gets the job done, there are better lenses now a half decade later but it still finds its way on my A1 :p
ОтветитьGo to see I have half of the lenses featured in this video, I made some good choices lolll
ОтветитьWould like to add Tamron 28-200.
ОтветитьGlad you mentioned the Sigma 24mm f/3.5. Confirmed my purchase decision😁
ОтветитьOlympus 12-100mm f/4 IS Pro, equivalent to 24-200mm is the the holy grail of travel lenses, it's as sharp as any Sony GM lens and has Sync-IS which CAN (with some luck) get you handheld long exposure of up to 10 seconds; no tripod needed. Closes focus is also 15cm giving it SOME macro capability as well. It weighs 561g and uses a 72mm filter, so it's smaller than the travel standard Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS.
This is THE definition of a one lens solution for travel photography.
what about Sigma 28-70 f2.8 ?
ОтветитьWe do have this one's for canon 😭😭😭 great content.♥️
ОтветитьA nice little lens that I like regardless of price is the Samyang 45mm 1.8. One of those for street and a Ricoh GR for wide shots instead of a second lens would be a nice holiday set.
Good choices, particularly the Sony 24-50 and Tamron 28-75.
Though I am no longer shooting Sony I still have to name the 40mm 2.5G which is an amazing lens for travel. Wide enough for street and travel but also just enough compression for some nice portraits.
ОтветитьI have the Sony 28-60mm on my A73 for when I want to be incognito. I picked up a used one on eBay for £200 and the quality and zoom range is pretty good. I find travelling with anything larger just makes you a target nowadays.
ОтветитьI've got canon 2000d what lenses should i use?😊
ОтветитьIn a video which the main topic is affordability, I strongly believe that you should have mentioned the price for each lens that you discuss.
ОтветитьMy Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 and FE 20mm f/1.8 are my go to travel lenses. The Tamron is also my portrait shoot lens as well.
ОтветитьGood choices offering lots of combos. I only have the 20 1.8 myself, it would pair well with either the 28-75 or 35-150. I also have the G1 70-180, which would pair well with the 20-40 or 20-70. As for any left out? The Sony 24-105 especially with used prices and Tamron 28-200 perhaps?
Ответитьnow, i use the tammy 20 40 and 70 180g2 with my a7cR, perfect for any scenario
ОтветитьAm a big fan of samyang lenses for the performance based on the price. Sad none were included.
ОтветитьJulia, thanks for this video. This plethora of options is amazing, but if you had to take one (or maybe 2) of these lenses, which would you chose?
ОтветитьWhich is best tamron or sigma
ОтветитьSurprised none of Sony 2.5G and Samyang Tiny series made the list.
ОтветитьSays 10 lenses. Gives us 50 lol jk
ОтветитьGreat choices. I usually travel with my Sony 20 1.8 G and 35 1.4 GM. Even though I also own the 135 GM, I hardly take it with me while travelling. But not gonna lie, I do miss the longer focal length even though I hate swapping lenses. The 70-200 F4 II looks great, might even add that to my kit someday. If only Sony had a 24-200 with variable aperture like 2.8-4.5/5.6, that would be a dream travel lens.
ОтветитьAwesome video Julia! Nice to see both the Tamron 20-40mm f/2.8 and Tamron 70-180 f/2.8 G2 zoom lenses on the list! These were the only two lenses I brought with me and my A7III during my last travel to Libanon.
I felt covered from wide to telephoto with these two lenses. Some times I only brought the 20-40mm or sometimes and brought the 70-180 G2 in a really small backpack, so it was easy to carry around.
These are two great lenses. Both affordable if you have limited budget, they are light weight for their focal length and they perform really well both optically and auto-focus wise.
Great video as always Julia!
