DIY Mushroom Lights (craft project)

Took half the year but finally put together the domes and used electrical tape on the silicone wire to pull through the wood holes. Mine look quite phallic but they work. Very luminous!

How long doees it take the silicone to set? Being in plastic wrap wouldn't it take a long time as air cannot get to it.

All these TikTok alternatives (glue Gun instead of silicon, using a chain of light aso)are shit, but might be a good option for people with less skills in electronic devices an brazing them. I'm actually starting the process of wiring up ARGB LEDs to do exactly this and use an ESP01 to wirelesslt control it. Ive been wanting to make this for a LONG time now and finally got all the right parts and skills to do it!

I appreciate Matt's work to make these mushrooms look real. The attention to detail makes this project really special.

I did the math and this setup will last around 6 days/mushroom (so 6 days for 1 mushroom, 3 days for 2 mushrooms, and so on). I think a nice project is to have a solar panel charge a battery that will charge during the day and light on during the night. I don't know how easy/difficult this would be but you could have your mushrooms light up for a very very long time.

So if I understand it correctly I can put it outside and have it in my garden? Will rain destroy it or something

The mushrooms are wonderful and I like how you carefully explained almost every step of the process. How did you manage to hold the second wire in place in order to solder it? My solder keeps evaporating before I am able to bring the wire in contact with the end of the LED...

I calculated needing a 0.58 ohm resistor but I can't find one that small. Is it safe to just use a 1 ohm resistor?
