Yeah.....you made some good choices. I don't like canned anything!!! But during the hurricanes here in south Florida, I had to do it.
Some other things I liked are Vienna sausages, chicken dumplings, chicken- a- la-king, and Progresso soups-I mean that specific brand of soup.

What about the best before date on the cans as all canned food has the best before date. It may be sealed and still enclosed, but the best before date still shows up

My question is, how long does canned food really stay good? They do have an expiration date and the fear is that you may eat something that seems safe but is not.

I have had several cans of tomatoes eat through their can (making a mess on the shelf) after less than 10 years. I have also had several cans of evaporated milk turn solid in the can after 15 years. Canned Chef Boyardee products (ravioli, etc.) seem to last forever. Nothing stored for use in a fallout shelter should require adding water, or cooking. As someone else said, canned mackerel, salmon, pork should be added to the list of storables. Beef stew is a must have in my food supply. Karo corn syrup keeps forever. So does actual maple syrup. Stale crackers are horrible. Stale crackers with syrup ain't too bad. Sterile shelf box milk is good for at least 2 years.
